Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I have to use my own broadband? Who thinks this is a good idea?

At&t tv is being marketed as a premium service??

It seems like a streaming service. What other premium tv service requires me to use my own bandwidth?

Seems like the prices should be a lot less if I’m having to pay for the internet it’s streaming over.

Besides a different box (RoKu vs whatever... some generic knock off) how is this different from dtv now?

Where I live I have the choice between AT&T Uverse with speeds up to 50Mbps or Comcast with speeds up to 1GBps for about $20 more than the Uverse with my discount. I chose Comcast at 400Mbps for less than Uverse. Both have 1TB data caps. Tell me again why I’d want to switch from my $10 DirecTV to this where I have to bring my own internet AND worry about hitting my 1TB data caps before they both start charging me another $10/50GB?

a friend of mine sent me this email:

i hope my sports bar with 30 TV's and 10 satellite receivers never has to be forced with switch to this streaming service. our internet is barely fast enough to handle our point of sale equipment and online food ordering. no way i can stream 10 boxes at a time. may have to look into dish network at some point.

Quit thinking like a customer and start thinking like a company partner and manager.

Att is so out of touch; it’s truly amazing how detached they are from consumers. Att has to be the exact opposite of Apple; whereas Apple also charges a premium but strives to give the consumer the best experience in hardware and software and they protect your privacy ....att sells you personal data , gives you the poorest experiences on their services and STILL charges you a premium for the privilege of their miserable service. Unreal.

even tho att tv does not require a costly truck roll and tech to install dish which saves the company hundreds of dollars, the savings will not be passed on to the consumer. instead we will keep the prices high with no incentive for people to choose a new unproven product vs one that has worked well for decades.

satellite customers are mostly suburban and rural households that have no access to reliable broadband and use dishes cause they have to. att does not understand that.

You need to use your own internet for any streaming service. What’s your point?
