Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Why can't they do layoffs all at once?

Why do they have to make it last for days or even weeks sometimes? I see no good reason for it other than to torture us and make us stress even more.

But this will backfire on them. The morale is already low and it's getting even lower every day - especially when layoffs are ongoing. And unhappy employees do not equal productive employees, that's for sure.

These layoffs have been going on for 4 years now. And it has nothing to do with skill set, position, salary, etc. Don't use logic. They've been laying off small groups of 20 or so and they haven't advertised it so if you don't know one of them or someone else that knows one of the layoff people you'll never know. They keep this under the radar so that it doesn't hit the news internal or external. They've gotten to the point that it can't be kept quiet. With these layoffs over the years, they have bitten into their sales drastically.

They will most likely liquidate pieces of what they have left and try and start over.

Start shopping your resume now if you're still there OR, worry and wait to get laid off.

Anyone else think it’s a waste of time and resources when your new CMO rebrands twice in the time he has been here, which at that point was less than a year.

Today Jonathan Martin announced promotions for a few of the most under qualified and inexperienced people at the company. Instead of making decisions in the best interest of the company he chose to put his small clique of favorite employees in high roles, reporting directly to him. Some of them deserved it, but you all know exactly who didnt.

Instead of using the past year to learn and understand what marketing org was doing, Jonathan hired all of random, new people from previous jobs he held and laid off many critical people last week. When he started in 2019 he hired a brand new marketing team that become a shadow of the real marketing team. All this man does is blow through all of the money. Our budgets are non existent, but some how he and his team have so much that you would think it grows on trees at the rate they spend it. Get it together Hitachi Limited. The CMO you continue to employ has had a strong hand in destroying this company and you’re letting him. Here’s a tip: how about you don’t lay off the people who actually do the work and get rid of those who don’t, such as some of the people you conveniently promoted today. How about you appreciate those of us who work around the clock to make things work instead of praising those who kiss your butt 24/7 and the only purpose they serve is getting in our way because they don’t know what they’re doing. It would be nice to be recognized for all the hard work some of us do that Jonathan is too dense to comprehend. I don’t think there’s potential to rebuild unless hitachi global gets rid of the main issue. Even still it’s far too late. It’s scary when your leadership has no idea what anyone does and the damage they just caused.

Do not give HR a pass. The leader doesn’t care. If he could fire all and discriminate against older and female he would. He is supported by Japan. Just lookup on LinkedIn.

Simple. The company is a mess anyway, and there just aren’t people HR folks to cull say a thousand people on the same day :)

I was impacted last week. They do by departments on the same day, from what I gather.

It’s just not possible to cull everyone on one single day, so they spread it over a week or two. Perfectly understandable.

We have the most indecisive leaders. I still remember how most of company was in limbo when Brad Surak joined and said he would introduce a new strategy thesis which never came. So much time and $$$'s wasted and that is happening again.
