Create new opportunities for yourself. Load linkedin, indeed, etc. on your phone. Smile, do your work, and spend every minute of every townhall, staff, and webex meeting applying for jobs.

It’s basically like walking in and giving them the middle finger. At the point you’d ask- they will fire you. Makes no sense to take this route

It's so nice that you'd want to save someone else by volunteering but absolutely do not do it. They can call that your resignation and walk you right out the door with no severance and no unemployment.

And why don;t you HR/Upper Management trolls actually contribute something of value to the discussion for once. All you people do is talk $**t. GTFOH.

Like another person said, you're really better off updating your resume and applying for a new job. The severance payout for the 2020 waves is roughly 1 week of severance for each full year of service and you don't get credit for partial years. All grade levels are maxed out at 26 weeks of severance regardless of how many years you were with company. Keep quiet about wanting to be laid off or you'll end up with no severance at all. The best thing you can do is leave on your own terms by finding a new job.

The severance documentation specifically says that if you have stated your intention to leave, that you get no severance package. So if it were me, I wouldn't risk it.

Don’t do it! I asked last year- was told to basically go back to my desk and get to work. The next morning I get called in and am told I’m being let go- with zero severance. That’s right- 10yrs of service and honestly never in trouble. So I took the advice of others and stopped by the men’s room on my way out of being escorted out. Couldn’t believe it- like I was criminal. Then all gain, after what I did in the bathroom it was a sh– show!

They don't take volunteers so I guess you'd be lucky get on the severance list. Honestly you're better off updating your resume and starting to look for a new job. Start now while you have some control over the process and the job market is good. The severance package isn't much, continuing benefits is ridiculously expensive and you don't get much from unemployment.
