Thread regarding Ford layoffs

High margin businesses???

So, Ford wants to be only in high margin businesses, eliminating entry level cars from its products, and instead spending capital like drunken sailors on “Smart Mobility.” From all the news I can find, the “FordX” group has wasted $Billions on these “no margin” ventures, with nothing to announce about its work since 2018. Can someone shed light on why we continue to be a poor quality vehicle manufacturer that wants to be something it is not???

GoRide: out of business
Chariot: out of business
Spin: what is the profit margin here?
Autonomic: has done nothing worth announcing since 2018 acquisition
Transloc: has done nothing worth announcing since 2018 acquisition

Why, why can’t we stop this nonsense and be the best quality vehicle manufacturer in the world???

Farley is about monetizing data collected about customers and from customer vehicles.
He stated in one meeting that there was more money in data than manufacturing cars.
At the time an audience member asked how we would get that data as customers do not like having
their location and behaviors tracked and sold. He stated we would build such awesome apps that people would willingly give us their permission to track and sell their data.
Those awesome apps have not materialized. The whole concept is based on the assumption that customers are not savvy enough to opt out of tracking , or Ford flat out will be ignoring customers opt out.

Ford is either getting ready for a partnership or a buyout. It's the only thing that makes sense for what they have done since 2017.
