Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Current vs Former

I'm curious, how many people that post or read this blog are still current employees? I've only been with the company for 3 years so I don't see any dramatic change in the culture. But I do see that the company lacks a purpose. We don't serve our schools, our students, or our employees very well. So if we are not providing best-in-class customer service or best dollar value, what are we doing?

I worked for Follett for 17 years in customer service. I retired last year. I early retired due to the fact of too many changes in our duties (sales force logging cases) which if used as requested took customer service representatives time away from the most important part of.their company SERVING THE CUSTOMERS. I loved my job and my customers until Follett decided.to turn the whole department upside down and treated customers as if they didn't matter.

Ah, moving to the Net Never payment schedule.
The pressuring vendors for contributions is nothing new for Follett. You must give us your very best price and we need to you make a big contribution to the FEF.
It's about time the vendors pushed back.
How long can this madness last?

New PTO policy will be a moot point for those packing up their personal items on April 2nd. Regardless of the new program they'll have zero accrued vacation days for the company to pay out.
Managers meeting was cancelled because they couldn't get enough cash contributions from their vendors to pay for it. Yes, they were extorting money from their vendors. I'm not even sure if that's legal, let alone ethical. But the vendors pushed back because Follett recently extended their payment terms so they could hold onto their pennies a bit longer. Directive from the top is to NOT pay any vendors in the upcoming 1st quarter. Vendors do not know this but once invoices go unpaid for 60 days you'll see empty store shelves.

Current. Not a life timer but I’ve got a c-appy matching three piece suitcase. Rose tinted glasses make the past seem perfect. It wasn’t. But I do feel it was immeasurably better than now. If you’re in a store location at some point pop on the server and look for a folder labeled HOV. Videos as old as ten years or older can be found there. That is a better way to see it as it was

Paradigm change when MLS was brought on board. Her words, my only job is to make Follett stock worth more. Follett stock is only held by Follett family members. So the family wealth is the only focus of the company. Since this is a dying business, cut labor and make those left work harder! Screw the students!
