As a person who was ruthlessly driven out of this company nearly 7 years ago, (after more than 20 years in service to the company), watching the torture that follett had become flower and spread is somewhat satisfying. I do feel bad for all y'all caught up in this merde mosh pit. Many of you saw the company turn on its employees 7 years ago. Did you think we deserved it? Did you think you were better, unique or somehow superior? Again, I'm truly sorry for your pain. I experienced it first hand. I know what you're going through.
follett is an invasive species of mismanagement in a dying industry. If you work under follett's yolk you are slowing the loss of equity value for the families who benefit from your misery. I know some of you think you can't work anywhere else. You're too near retirement. Don't find comfort in that rationalization. follett won't think twice about putting you out to pasture. If you aren't looking for work, in a economy that offers a chance at finding a new job, what's going to happen when the economy turns south? follett has been cutting staff in an expanding economy. They'll brutalize you. The rumors of severance are likely unfounded. I got nothing. 20+ years and many values cards and awards. I got nothing.

Every lay off you mourn for the people that were let go and than are thankful to still have your job.
But in time, yes in time your turn will come. You will be one of those people Follett got rid of.
Doesn't matter how good an employee you were, how many years of service you had, how many hours of overtime you worked, the great reviews and all the value cards, you will be out.
You will not see it coming but you will be gone. You will wonder Why me and not so and so, but keep in mind you are heading for better. Yes, there are places that treat hard workers the way they should be treated, with respect. Good luck to all that have been let go and to the ones who are still there wondering if they are next. More than likely you are.
