Several sources have confirmed that layoffs are coming next week in the marketing org. Managers were asked to cut 15% from their budgets, including headcount, several weeks ago and submit their plans for approval.

This really looks like a systematic purging of all non-profitable divisions and minimally profitable ones across HV. Lumada’s success has been dismal at best and Hitachi infrastructure hasn’t kept up with the competition. The only logical move is to continue downsizing Vantara to make it attractive for an acquisition. With the new strategy all in on Jupiter with only a few deployments globally, selling the company is the only logical option at this point.
I know of at least (2) engineers in Waltham and an admin assistant in Orlando that were served notice. I'm hoping the recent spat of resignations in Engineering were enough to quench the thirst of the bean counters.
I’m in marketing and was affected by the layoffs yesterday. I heard about several others but not sure how deep the cuts were for other teams, or if the layoffs hit other departments outside of marketing.
Some good people were let go yesterday. You can make fun of marketing all you want, but please keep in mind that the people there are doing the best that they can with no budget and very little resources.
It’s hard to do any marketing when there’s no budget. Many people in roles still market like it’s 2005.
To some department, it may be the second one within a month time already.
All quiet in Waltham office. Calm before the storm?
Wave hit today... across the board layoffs...
Many of the C level executives had (and still has) failed experiments, wiped their hands, got a big package and the folks under paid the ultimate price. SC is a ghost-town and only a headquarter by name only.
Brad has sunk this company. All of those who lost their jobs (and the families of those people) should be on his mind. He has blood on his hands.
I'm still confident that GE will hire him back once he has demolished Hitachi Vantara. We were a competitor to them and taking us out gives GE another chance.
virtually all business areas in all geos will sack colleagues.
Not sure about the scope. I have heard "big layoff" mentioned a couple times during some cross-functional calls recently and I am pretty sure I didn't mishear it. Some of those folks on the call should know a thing or two because of their departments but they kept silent. And typically the big movements happen in March/April in HV/HDS. Now with HCC, maybe they try to consolidate and save when business isn't up to financial goals. Just my guess.
Marketing! What marketing? Since when has Hitachi Vantara done any relevant marketing or branding? Most of the market still hasn't heard of HV. LOL
Is it only for marketing then ?
