Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

How do you doom and gloomers explain?

Curious to hear an explanation of how Windstream is still actively hiring? If Layoffs are on the horizon and as this board will have you believe set to occur every Thursday, why would open positions be filled? Even in the so called screwed CLEC markets positions are posted and filled, people resign and Positions are backfilled. Seems to be business as usual no?

'How do you doom and gloomers explain?'

Nice try, TT

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how bad things are at WIN:

Chapter 11
Stock being delisted
Stock at one time being over $100 a share, now the OTC is edging to $0
Most groups except the LR 5 has been laid off/outsourced

This is your brain on LR 5. Any questions?

These pieces of garbage will use you and toss you out in a heartbeat. You're as useful to them as a spent condom.

Yeah, that is the headlights of the limousine carrying the LR 5 going to run you over, 'valued' employee!

Sales team is currently on their trip taken by corporate jet to Jamaica. Never understood trips for under performing but this is the WIN way!!

I’ve heard some of the sales people are getting close to 100k salary and get paid a years commission.

They need to hire skilled techs. I left Windstream 2yrs ago and the net techs I worked with still call me for technical support. This last outage guy was stuck in a Verizon collo for 17hrs straight. I actually dispatched to help. If Windstream actually did backups it would have been resolved in 1hr. If NGMSS was up to date it would have been resolved in 5hrs. Team has gone from 10 techs down to 2. Manager never answered his phone and sure as hell never left his house. I only help because I consider my former co-workers friends.......but I had to explain after this one to not call me for support anymore.

Ks market just hired a guy I know for account management. Why hire someone to manage a base of customers if you’re shutting down.

Are you kidding me?
Try taking off the rose colored glasses and get your head out of your *ss.
You can continue drinking the koolaid that the LR5 are pushing but you're not fooling anyone.
Hopefully those responsible for this debacle will end up in prison where they belong.

Managers intentionally hold positions open. Those positions are a much easier sacrifice come the next round of layoffs, compared to losing an actual person.

Alot of employees in key roles resigned as well as layoffs causing departments to be way too short staffed. In some instances they had to backfill. Sales is a revolving door for the bottom third performers just like at all telecoms. And Windstream isnt selling much, so tons of sales reps are resigning. This Uniti deal kept the doors open and the LR5 employed. Unfortunately we are getting close to business as usual before chapter 11....which isnt all that great.

Not all CLEC market positions are filled. We’ve lost people to lay-offs and resignations. The resignations remain open until the next lay-off and then those open positions have been eliminated.

"Seems to be business as usual no?"

Sure. No worries.

Stock was delisted last year.
Company filed Chapter 11

Good luck living in Fantasy-land!!!!

I know of 4 people hired for sales positions in the last 3 months. Base salary 80K Seemingly makes no sense to fill headcount and pay above market if they are going to lay-off in mass.

Many of the positions that are being filled were previously filled by folks who were laid off. They are filling them at lower pay rates than those who previously held the position. Not all positions are back filled, though. A portion of them are eliminated before they can be filled. However, don’t let the filling of these positions fool you..... It is still business as usual which means TT and the boys are still kicking that can down the road until they hit their next KEIP payday.
