This week Upper Management has started doing voluntary layoffs for the union employees. After the notice for voluntary layoffs is done it is expected that there will be 50-70 total layoffs to be done through mandatory layoffs. They say these are a direct result of the “737 max issues” that partially may be true but at the same time the hourly head count which has always hovered around 300 people has been increased to almost 400. They hired all these new people to clear a backlog of orders but now are disposing of them like Stryker does with their temps. Yet they continue to hire non value added positions such as supervisors, lean directors, safety coordinators, engineers (we have no new projects) etc.
Stay away! The new senior management does not care about employees. We could afford this downturn.... the problem is the bonuses of our management would be affected as they are around 40% of their base pay. We can’t have that go down a few % to spare some people’s jobs(that you over hired for).
