those mo–nS in the office should’ve been the ones “laid off”.

Totally agree. After being laid off, the corporate people in HR were very kind and answered all questions and even checked back thru email to see if my questions were answered.
Sounds like a simple database error, granted a rather unfortunate one that could seem like tearing the scab off a wound. When I needed to contact the HR people after I was laid off, they were some of the nicest people in the company I've dealt with, who actually seemed to go out of their way for me to help get all my paperwork sorted. The folks in that department are just trying to do their jobs like the retail employees do, no matter who the upper management corporate overlords are.
Corporate should’ve been where the layoffs happened !
