Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

What is going on with CenturyLink

CenturyLink Business customer here. What is going on at CenturyLink? The whole company has gone completely downhill in the last three months. CenturyLink staff are no longer responding to my emails or returning voicemails (and if they do it takes an act of god). The CenturyLink construction contractors and techs all have bad attitudes. If I didn't know any better I would say CenturyLink is about to close their doors. But they can't go out of business because they are too big, right? I mean in my county's 911 phone service is provided by CenturyLink. If they just closed their door it would be devastating for our community. What is going on with CenturyLink?

Post ID: @1338gXmT-3jeo —Trust me they did you a huge favor—Myself been gone about 9 months now , The industry is FLOODED with techs from Here,Frontier, AT&T, Verizon. We are the typewriter repairmen of the new Decade— Our industry is about to go through revolutionary change and we will no longer be needed—When you start your new job search you will see how many of us there are hundred's if not more all applying for the same jobs in that aspect —yes GOOD LUCK......

Myself Im done with outside plant copper jockey—its a dead end . I have abandoned working for others, and at almost 60 for the second time in my life im working In a totally un-related field i am actually pursuing what i enjoy for a change rather than chasing a dollar

Good luck everyone the end is here . several companies are almost daily now looking for contractors to replace us . Level three is screwing them too all unit work ,every bit of it....do yourselves a favor re-invent yourself Do something you enjoy you have no idea how nice it is to be able to attend family functions,go to the beach go out on a Friday night after YEARS of having to be in every Saturday morning

I sure do miss the phone company i came to work for—but L3 isn't that anymore and we are not alone its all of us copper people ......I worked in one of the best tightest knit Rural areas in central Florida..which is now void of company men other than circuits and 1 C.O. tech everything else is ALL contractor. We have another area here in central Fl. that is now all contractor as well

Its here

UMMMMM maybe your reading comprehension needs some polishing you have the correct message not saying what you said is wrong —HOWEVER the person whim posted this clearly stated that THEY ARE a Business customer?—looking for answers, so apparently in HIS/HER case they do not care about customers either—Jus sayin

I just got laid off a week ago. Many got the boot under the one organization. I’d like to have had another year or two, and reach 60, but after 34 years I’m definitely fine with it. CTL is sinking and I’m thankful I got a decent package because I hear severance is next to go. I wish anyone left the best because you’re gonna need it.

You are slow to see the writing on the wall. Most Centurylink residential customers have already left. They don't care about you. The only customers they want are business and fiber. What they call "GEAR" which is an acronym for the customers names.
If you have a choice such as Verizon, Comcast or whoever, save yourself now. Our staff is all disgruntled and we really don't care about you. You yell at us, we get back in the truck and make fun of you. We make bets on how p-ss-d you are before we come out. No morale. We are all looking for jobs. Even the guys that say they aren't looking for a new job are. Bottom line is all we care about is finding a new job.
Don't worry about 911. When they finally can't afford the liabilities of doing 911 centers someone else will be there to pick it up. Verizon got out of the 911 business several years ago due to the liabilities. The former level 3 guys who run Centurylink never liked the 911 business to start with. It is only a matter of time till they follow in Verizon's footsteps.

This is to all current and those considering to do business with Century link...As a telecom professional of 30 years....Many have gotten and continue to get laid off! The people that have not gotten laid off have left.
So what you have is a management staff that refuses to admit they are lost for answers and the few new employees with little experience.
The people that are left trying tirelessly to provide good service are few !!!
Do yourself good. Consider doing business with Crown Castle, Verizon, anyone else

The Management has driven the company morale into the ground. No one is appreciated no matter how hard they work and the systems that are supposed to support the technicians are all broken. To sum it up in three words “click to chat!”
