Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Toys are in trouble

Toys are in trouble and have been for years. As a parent and former Mattel employee, my kids are into video games, online videos, and Legos. CNBC is spot on:

Company is losing hundreds of millions of dollars currently. So how many Max Steel movies grossing 6 million would it take to help make Mattel profitable? Also , the Max Steel movie was produced by Playground Productions, a now defunct group. So the latest version of a movie division has only produced PR Releases about making movies. Do not drink the cool aid to soon . Demand results from people making excessive salaries!

@iowq+132wjGKg Max Steel and it's worldwide $6 million box-office gross begs to differ.

Mattel does NOT make movies, they only write press releases that Mattel will make movies . Has not generated a single dollar yet!

Mattel doesn't make toys any more. It makes MISFIT toys like peg leg Barbie and skin diseased Barbie. And that gender-less thing – what is that one called? Oh yeah, you don't call it anything for fear of offending it.

Every millennial parent home I am have exponentially less toys than 5-10 years ago. Minimalism and anti-consumerism is real. Toy market is shrinking for sure. Like many other consumables.

I dk, my kids got a metric sh!t ton of toys for Xmas this year. The trick is to manufacture toys that resonate with consumers. If sales are down, this should be the first thing that needs to be addressed. This is not rocket science people.
