It all depends where you are on your roster, they have done most of the cuts they were aiming at doing. There will still be some more but nothing like the cuts already. Keep your head up and hang in there.

Wondered when T&E would start posting on here. Don’t kid yourself...things have only begun. More switching jobs will be abolished and pools will shrink and shrivel up as more trains are combined. More yards maybe even a few major terminals will be idled. Longer term the road conductor will almost certainly be history within 2-3 years also you need to consider the size of your seniority district and ask yourself how far and how many times are you willing to go to chase work and spend lots of time qualifying for free because if they don’t have to pay you they aren’t going to.

I had 15 yrs as a pipefitter. NS had no problem "furloughing" me. Hopefully you will be able to withstand the terrible working conditions and be able to outlast PSR. I suggest you start looking for something other than railroading as a career. I was lucky to find a job after a couple of weeks and will never go back. Good luck to you and I pray that you last outlast this greed driven madness.

yup fair question. all you need to do is look at the operating ratio. if its not moving towards 60 from what it is now. i think 64 something then yes more cuts on the way. they will hit 60 regardless who or what, i say what because it’s all for sale to cut cost.

Australia is already operating self driving trains. It will take a few more years in the US. Engineer and Brakeman jobs will eventually be gone.

If a train breaks in two they will call a Uber driver to replace the knuckle.
