RIF Benefits

Does Honeywell ever upgrade the severance or MIP payout when terminating long term employees in a protected class?

Incorrect. In Arizona, unemployment CAN start immediately based on your employment date. I only found this out after listening to someone else and waiting until my severance was ended. My advice, apply for unemployment ASAP.

In Arizona,
unemployment only starts AFTER Severance Ends

I've only seen some "extra" given a few times with a PIP, never with standard RIF. RIF's need to be treated in a consistent manner to avoid class action suits. But in those cases (for PIPs), HON was only going to give 1 - 3 months, and not the 1 week for every year of employment up to 26 weeks that is currently used with a RIF. Terminated for cause doesn't get anything (and it shouldn't). As for MIP, you get nothing, just like the 401K match if you are not "loyal" and don't remain until just before the payout date prior to Christmas. If you are some type of exec, you probably get a "golden handshake" depending on your contract, but that doesn't apply to the vast majority of employees. Only other payouts I've seen were settlements for "wrongful termination" lawsuits, and those required a solid case. Oh, and virtually no one is a "protected class" anymore. Good luck.

In FL, you can collect unemployment starting 2 weeks after applying for it. If living in FL, apply IMMEDIATELY and begin collecting concurent with severance. Do NOT let HR give you the line that you must wait, or that it will somehow be in your interest to delay. It is NOT.

All it does is potentially minimize HIF payout throught the system to RIF'd employees and thus, keep their (HON) unemployment rates that they pay into the Gov't low. They didn't give you a break, so why should you give them a break?

Just went through this. I got nothing more. Max 26 weeks.. check your state unemployment though. In my state you can collect in addition to separation pay. Send them your agreement, don’t call. Since there are conditions, they don’t deem it a clean severance. And depending on site future, might get additional weeks of unemployment .
