Thread regarding Optum layoffs

December 23 lay-offs? Anyone heard this?

Someone posted that a Sr Medical Director stated that another layoff is occurring 12/23 in Optum BH. Has anyone else heard this? Historically when posts have been made with specific days it has been spot on. Does anyone have any light on this? Is Optum BH dissolving?

No one is getting "walked" out on the 23rd. You would just be receiving your advance notice and details on severance.

With respect to the below post, was this in Risk Adjustment Opertions?

Until recently, I'd have thought the same but, now, thinking that layoffs would not occur when so many leaders (and staff at all levels) are either on PTO or covering for others seems like wishful thinking. During the 12/4 layoffs, my team lost levels of hierarchy - our direct supervisor, our clinical director and a senior/corporate level leader. As of Friday, we had heard only of a high level leader to whom the team might report but there was no named local leadership.

It definitely can happen any date. And the info I saw was 20-25% lay-off 12/4. Across the country and all areas. We do not matter to anyone and no one at even regional levels is in on decisions.

Or maybe Human Capital has nothing better to do so they are trying to ruin the track record here on this site by posting incorrect info and trying to throw people off.

I think it was a mistake and maybe person meant 1/8 & 3/4 as being layoff dates

1/4 is a Saturday and 3/8 is a Sunday...

Seriously? And December 4th wasn’t too close to Christmas? Good luck with your delusions

Lol. The date doesn’t matter. I’ve seen it happen the 23rd of December twice.

On the UHC layofff thread it says 12/23; 01/04 and 3/08 lay-off dates so the first one is in alignment with the Optum BH thread. I guess we just sit and wait like sitting ducks or jump ship

I saw that too. I personally don’t believe that date. The Reason? It’s like ice cold to think of two days before Christmas. That can’t be right. Think about it. Everyone is on PTO with others covering for them. On the other hand I do think January layoffs are real and possible. They post that they have to get December report year end reports or whatever to show them where they stand financially and that’s when they’d make determination about January layoffs? Reports would take time so it may be late January before they’d even have an idea? It’s all so close to holidays is my logic. As in, people are just returning to work as management so they may take time to make decisions. All we can do is wait to find out.
