Lol. We fired a bunch of people around the country and now we're having trouble hiring enough replacements in a single (midsize?) legal market with low unemployment.
Don't get me wrong, the Twin Cities are great, but thinking you're going to fire long-time employees in one state and then magically hire identical people in another state maybe (maybe) works for some low skill jobs; good luck doing that with lawyers. It really shows what the company thinks about its employees.

Well editors don’t have to be one physical location since so many are already wfh. Working 35 hrs a week in tax publishing is hardly like working in the coal mines.
Can't someone in Hyderabad just do the needful? It worked that way in my intern's business model!
We’ve recently rehires some employees who ether had retired or were laid off as contractors.
“You reap what you sow” ; “the chickens have come home to roost”; and “big mouthfuls often choke” spring to mind here.
Also the wages that they are offering to pay contractor attorney editors is so pitiful that no one wants to work for that, hence the difficulty of finding workers. Applicants figure they might as well just work for Target if they're going to make the wages they are offering
This, and not to mention the fact that I think they are paying lip sore hire attorney editors as employees. As everyone retires or leaves, they are replacing them with contractors. They don't want employees. They want contractors because they're too cheap to pay benefits. They're greedy pigs.
