Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Booble

AT&T Outsourced it’s Tech Dev departmental to IBM and the Employee’s were given a 1 year contract. I am wondering if IBM will extend our contract. AT&T paid their employees good money and I know IBM will probably cut our salary. Was wondering if we will be let go after our year contract is up?

Any employee that came over in that contract that is not actively planning their next move deserves what they have coming.

That's a little harsh. They should not be surprised, but competent workers do not deserve what IBM does to them.

What competent workers deserve is respect for the individual. Remember that IBM?

Once the 1 year commitment is up, they become just like any other IBM employee on the AT&T account. IBM would not extend that commitment without something in return from AT&T, who has no further obligation. AT&T funding levels for projects will continually decrease and IBM will not carry extra employees at their expense. They will keep the best, which doesn't always mean most knowledgable. Loyalty, cooperation and lower cost are more favorable. Any employee that came over in that contract that is not actively planning their next move deserves what they have coming.

Don't want to sound negative, but I've seen this many times before. Once the agreement that IBM signed expires, then IBM will begin removing redundant workload. Typically, this is the resources they acquired in the contract. Your best bet would be to start looking for other opportunities.

I've seen LTS and general contractors that were at the top of their game, best of the best basically just kicked to the curb at the end of their contracts. Mind you this was during major network upgrades! How do you explain to the customer that there is nobody available to complete the work? We all know just on-boarding alone to a new account at IBM can take weeks if not months. The company has lost it.

But hey, just worry about getting your checkpoint submitted because that's more important than IBM keeping their large accounts. Is this IBM or The Onion we are working for?
