A few months ago I read that management was going to get let go and that came to fruition on December 4th as predicted. The talent that was canned was a shocker and we are all left wondering who is going to steer this ship!! I also heard that in February and March , the next wave of layoffs are happening. Does anyone know which departments / positions they are targeting? Why does this have to be such a HUGE secret? I think we deserve to know so we can figure out how we are going to feed our kids, pay our rent, and afford medical/dental insurance. Nothing and I mean NOTHING this company does is done on a whim.
They know exactly what they are going to do and to whom. To give employees literally the same day notice that their positions have been eliminated during a conference call and that effective immediately they are no longer employed is disgusting, cruel, and so far removed from what they tell the world they are all about. Compassionate? Transparent? I think not. UHG, You are biting off your nose to spite your face by getting rid of the people that make this company what it is.

Any dates for the next wave of layoffs?
My manager said that lay offs are now finished for the year. I also heard from a different manager that changes will be reevaluated again Q1 2020. They are not completely finished migrating everyone to Optum
You know UHC upper management doesn't want to say by this date we will have layoffs. Everyone would quit asap. There would be no one at the job to do the work. Tell the lower employees nothing until the day of the layoff. They don't need us anymore.
I totally believe upper management knew this was coming. My department was losing accounts and when we asked, were told, Companies are coming on board, meetings with them are scheduled, etc.. Fast forward 6 months, Dec 4 we received an email stating a mandatory web ex meeting in 15 minutes and were told our jobs were eliminated, last day Jan 2. This had to be planned, why have us complete the self assessment? why have us participate in open enrollment? Just plain cruel and not a good look for the company.
A few days before the layoff, my supervisor was talking about going on a cruise. How nice. She had to know what was coming. Fast forward a few weeks and I am getting emails from her about "how annoying it is that her and the manager are receiving emails about equipment not returned." Wow.
Happy Holidays!
