Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Dec 4th Layoffs

This site may impose fear but, it is true information. Months ago someone reported the layoff and as of Dec 4 I witnessed the layoff. I believe it just opened our eyes to being expendable pawns. I saw 3 dedicated employees from high manger to cac supervisor loose their position. All the while holding meetings to cover up real reasoning of the mass layoffs, reading scripted information and not answering real questions to why and are we next. Do they expect that we can trust that no matter how hard we work or shine that the same disappointing blow might be our same out come? I am sure they don't want the stake holders to know that it is either your approvals or our employees. You guys can't figure out how to cut cost without cutting your employees, and providing stellar care for your member and stakeholders?

I was laid off 12/4 - implement caught off guard. Are team provides amazing customer service, 100% audits and stay so busy. I can’t see how customer service will be able to handle our volume but have at it. Very disgusted with the company now after talking so highly of them. We were currently being trained how to be compassionate (gag, it’s what we are already trained to do) and yet the delivery of being laid off was the least compassionate situation I’ve ever witnessed. I will never talk highly of UHC again. Their loss, as they’ll lose excellent customer service and burden other workers with more work, driving morale down.

Yes, update the resume, apply to new jobs and move along, as that's what the company wants. It's less people they need to lay off later when they crunch the numbers. Again, saving money in severance. If you've been employed for a while, let them lay you off and TAKE the severance.

Were told "You're lucky. You at least get paid through Christmas." Yeah, right. Merry effing.
There is not one thing about United or Optum which actually follow the values they SAY they have.
100% about churning out Billions of dollers. BILLIONS. It is not all about members, providers - it's about money. Money. Money. Money.

Agreed! My resume updated was Friday (yesterday) and five applications submitted tonight online. No one intelligent and ethical is staying here!

We were all shocked to say the least. Many of us are updating our resumes and high tailing it out of here.

It’s ridiculous. I still don’t understand why 60 days notice wasn’t given. For a company that constantly preaches the Importance of their “values” just to turn around an ax people 3 weeks before Christmas. we were told 2 months ago our department was fine and the lay offs were done. Why even say that if they didn’t know? Now we are told to keep quiet and wrap up our work. I hope people know that even if they are still employed, they aren’t safe! February will bring another round. Get out while you can.
