Thread regarding Optum layoffs

More Optum layoffs??? Anyone know??

Does anyone know when the next round of Optum layoffs will hit?? This site has been completely spot on the last two hits down to the day! Will it affect any managers or directors interfacing and serving Medicaid and meet with the states for mental health needs?? Seems like no one is safe!!

Consumer confidence in this organization will be impacted negativity as mentioned in the comments here.

I am employee of 12 years who has not been impacted directly yet, but have had many close friends and colleagues impacted by yesterday's onslaught of layoffs. I am no longer proud to work for organization and cannot see a future here any longer. Whether I am laid off or not 2020 will bring actively pounding the pavement for something else. I venture to guess many others will do the same. There is no employee confidence and this is taking a huge toll on us all. I get that it's just business and this how things go, but when everyone is stretched so thin as it is already how can we possibly be challenged to "get after it" and be high performers when everyday we live in fear that we are about to get the layoff call. My only hope is that those impacted thus far are able to have some sort of positive outcomes eventually from all of this such getting balance back in their life or moving to a new job or adventure that brings them more satisfaction and joy.

And consider yourself lucky if you get a severance. When theres a "Layoff" announced, some of those people were actually told they are being let go for "performance" and don't qualify for "severance, " with good performance reviews and no issues of performance! People should be posting on glass door so new recruits know of whats going on.

There is a lot of focus on med rec automation. Regardless, no one is safe. With all the re-orgs and domestic employees Slowly becoming out numbered by global, the writing is on the wall. It’s just a matter of time.

Optum Tech has been clear....their strategic locations are India and the Philippines. ITSS has laid off bunches of support staff and are backfilling those positions overseas. Everyone should be ready for it’s not a matter of if but when. And when it does happen, don’t expect compassion. It’s done I. The coldest and most sanitized way. The culture is gone and replaced with the mighty dollar.

It was regarding disease management RNs where call content assessment and discussion of coaching is somewhat “fairly predictable” and AI over analytics can capture data such that a robot could response in much the same manner that a RN would. Wild. Also, who would want to speak with a mental health therapist robot either? Just weird. But to them, cost effective! For example the gaming population out there sometimes can’t tell real person video from animated person. It’s apparently that good. So even video conferencing for tele-health would be viable. Insane. But in regards to RNs on a queue, you can’t necessarily do AI with that since you don’t know what you will get on a call? They are working hard to financially cut cut cut everywhere more than they already have since a robot doesn’t have “poor engagement” or have medical benefit needs. Robots are cheaper than people. Yuck. It all sounds so insane.

I’m nobody important. But I’ve been watching and it’s always monthly at beginning 7 days of the month. People are discussing in the last 12 hours they plan to sell stock by year end (selling stock and getting out quick to another job)...(But what I am telling you is only from 5 people I know as again I am a peon) but in all the toxic culture it’s hush hush because they want to have jobs secured and are looking actively for jobs elsewhere but quietly and they want to make money on stocks while they still are worth something. They are suspecting early Jan lay-offs as well. So it’s monthly. They do plan Artificial intelligence to replace RNs and Behavioral Clinicians once their AI systems are ready by late 2020. Earlier posts indicated monthly layoffs through 2020 with the plan to minimize as much USA jobs on American soil as possible. The real poster who knows a ton is “Batman” and he hasn’t posted in a while. I’m watching regularly to see any posts from him because what I say means nothing as I am not management at all. I’m watching other sites for other managed care companies about layoffs. Each one is bad but UHG/Optum is the worst. Public confidence I don’t believe will continue with United but that’s just my opinion. I think they have wronged too many people who are mad and will speak up In a public format once they are out and safe.
