Reposting the facts about Oxy, its track record and the kind of people they employ and the work environment they have. Of course, the disgraceful Anadarko acquisition can be added to this list. People deserve to know what Oxy is and why they have the reputation they have.

Make sure you conform and there is nothing different about you compared to the gang already there. You'll be persecuted until you have to quit your job if you are different and the people doing it will tell you that you deserve it. Don't challenge anyone on anything, you'll be run off. Recognize that almost all 'professional' staff are rejects from other more successful companies and you shouldn't have any problems setting appropriate levels of expectations. Keep your head down and don't make mistakes, other people will grab on to them to make themselves look good at your expense. Oxys 9/80 schedule is really a 9/89 - they will expect you in on your Friday off while making sure they get their bonus hours the other 9 days. It works out at roughly a 9% pay decrease for your hours worked. Don't take an overseas assignment (Oxy have failed everywhere, so that shouldn't be an issue) because you have to work 6 weeks on 1 week off rotation without seeing your family and if you don't like it, they will run you off. Don't expect professional development or support, you are expected to know everything all the time. They aren't wasting money on training and development. If you like persecuting others and helping HR to make your target pay for it, you will fit straight in at Oxy. Other than that, the low pay, no career prospects, track record of fatalities and serious EPA violations and school yard mentality, you should do very well.

Don't forget Piper Alpha, Petrolia, Maynas Carijano, Thunderball, Oleum spill in 2008, 35R gas line explosion, North Dakota purchase and sale at $1billion loss, Tatweer petroleum, Libya, ALL south American calamities, the now disgraceful evidence and ineptitude of the Anadarko merger their total lack of being able to retain ANY professional staff on any level.

The belief that, according to the people on these boards who work for Oxy, that workplace harassment, bullying and persecution of certain people for being different is NOT bigotry. They will defend that kind of behavior every time then wonder why people hold them accountable STARTING with this message board.

Thanks for the gracious offer, but I must decline. I’m too busy counting all the money I make at Oxy.

BTW, how’s that job at Walmart treating you? Do they provide great benefits like Oxy? Either way, they sure are generous about letting you sit around to monitor this website 24-7.

Pros: VH has kept her promise son far if keeping employees in these difficult times. That may change but at least I can remember last massive layoffs were 10 years ago. Pros: you can explore careers options, like going from Production to drilling... without too much restrictions. Pros: we don't have a lot of red tape, processes, endless documentation, and stage gate processes. You can test your ideas fairly quick and learn on a free path. Pros: if the CFO can figure out how to pay debt the acquisition might work well, but we are up the battle with statistics, 80% fail. Biases makes us think we are different and we can make it work!, thats what Oxy employees were told, make it work. They screw up financially, you make it work!

Like everything else in life here at Oxy over the last decade I can tell you has pros ans cons. Even more within business units its elves. Cons that you mention: fatalities, at least one employee I know was not accounted for because it wasn't a work accident! It was a dead for which there is no category. Employee was driving to field office in Permian, but based in Houston. Manager that pretended nothing happened got promoted to VP. Safety meeting topic right after her dead last year was Use if Ladders! Not even a word about driving training in dangerous Permian. Cons: constant change or lack of direction: oh we are moving to Century Park! O we might not, we might but next year, later finally Don't! Cons: Lack of planning, just hope for the best! Vangolens reassure VH everything is going to be oright, but they have no clue, learn as you go is good for early career training, not the same for running a company! Cons: if your father works here, you are married to someone else in higher position, you know someone up there, you are part of the managerial promotion ladder

OP- Actually, all you are doing is embarrassing yourself. I don't know in which decade you were let go (based on your ancient references), but do you even know anyone at Oxy today?

I realize you are suffering from an extreme form of separation anxiety disorder and cannot stop monitoring this thread on an daily basis to defend you crazy rants by up-voting them dozens of times, but surely there's a mental health clinic in your area that can properly diagnose your condition and provide medication to stabilize you enough to move on with your life.

In the meantime, feel free to down-vote this post (multiple times) to assuage your anger.
