Anyone have information about December 4th layoffs? Some have posted about mandatory department meetings on this day. It was posted here about the November 6th layoffs prior to the date and this was spot on. Can anyone please confirm the December 4th date as next round?

Being a loyal and productive employee means nothing! They just cut positions!!!!!!!!. No effort whatsoever to find other positions for good employees. They honestly o not care about employees or plan members!!!
Can confirm regarding massive layoffs throughout the entire company. 15 min phonecall indicating that my position was eliminated due to budget constraints. The fact is that acquiring humedica was a massive mistake and set the company up for failure as well as poor management decisions from what seem to be oblivious and inept people.
Level 29 myself and was working on at least 6 different projects but hey, who cares, right? Insanity...Never had a bad review, worked my behind off and this is wha happens.
We will all be better for this. I hope you all get fantastic roles soon as countless companies will benefit from your expertise and knowledge. Godspeed everyone!
Ex employee (Massachusetts)
Just discovered this useful thread. So shocked to see so many let go. Pray for all affected to get employed soon. I heard about the UHG layoffs, did not realize it was going to spread to Optum too.
It is senseless. They keep saying business and growth is doing good. If so why ? Guess it is the handiwork of new leadership.
Anyone knows the numbers, ? How many from Optum ( segments ).
Grape vine. UHC lost the triage account and they are being investigated in N.Y. for racially profiling black patients with less aggressive interventions than white patients with the same disease.
I'm a non cm rn. I felt something was off a couple of months ago.
If the racial profiling claim is true, cause on of my friends who is a cm said she never put it together but she says thinking back she could say it has her suspicious and a few bells when off that didn't make sense then but now it is glaringly obvious.
UHC is a big company but it isn't too big to fail. If that profiling is going on nation wide... Well, we will all be out of a job.
For folks that gave us the moral high ground on the essential must of community volunteerism, and ethics this has certainly brought to light some shady double dealing. I knew it was too good to be true

I was notified on Wednesday morning that my position was eliminated which is just crazy sine it clearly still exists! This is the 4th time I’ve been laid off in my career. There is no corporation that truly cares about their employees. I was a Culture Ambassador and a high performer on my team. My boss was also laid off along with 3 others on our team. I feel really badly for my teammates who are staying. I know I will be able to find a great job and will be just fine. I feel sorry for those who are staying because culture is a joke. Where is the Integrity and who cares about the client Relationships and where was the Compassion? If that’s what they call Innovation they are sorely mistaken! I took Performance very seriously. I actually lived the stated values. Why doesn’t Optum upper management do the same??? It’s so sad. I’m praying for us all. Happy Holidays! Give yourself a great gift and update your resumes and LinkedIn profiles ASAP!
Yep. It happened
Anyone have a clue as to next steps? Seems weird a lot of actual workers were laid off but directors remain sometimes with hardly any direct reports....
I left on my own in September of 2018. I gave four days' notice. After 18 years, it was clear that I was being pushed out. It was a horror show. I went through the IDR process when I was placed on a CAP for events that can only be described as bold-faced lies.
I've never been happier and more successful since leaving Optum, confirming that the problem was Optum. Good riddance.
Might as well leave this right here.

Legacy Procura effected by layoffs, Dec 4, 15 min phone call
yesterday, 12/4/19 we got an email about the 'reduction in workforce'.. its true layoffs happened yesterday. i am no longer proud to work for this company
Claims and customer service and IT will all go offshore. This means other countries will have access to your personal health information and will be granted freedom to approve or deny your claim. Way to go Optum to give away power to other countries for our healthcare. We have cost cutters at the top yes but they sure aren’t smart
Please don’t get COBRA. Don’t pay them a dime! Go get unemployment and find a local community clinic for your needs. Sell any stock by year end too. Give your skills and what you learned here and give it to a competitor
Managers were clueless. None of the directors or managers were included in this decision. Not of this was done up to Optum’s standard.

I was laid off yesterday as well. What really gets me is how random it was. Why not the last in , first out. And i had 2 leaders tell me how there were several others that should have been let go instead of me. Im at a loss here. Kind of helps to see others in the same boat. I could have done without the rehearsed generic response...and i wanted to say “what about how awesome you said we were doing a few months ago?!” Just insane. Hope no one laid off is going to be struggling too badly.
Does anyone know what's going to happen to the claims processors in BH Claims?
Workers Comp - operations and some of the billing department were layed off today over 100 employees were let go and the 20 that were not were told they would be working from home . Employees were asked to leave effective immediately .Severance pay was offered . But it was truly sad . They actually did not renew the lease of the building so the entire division in was hit hard
Look up WARN act for your state
Yup confirmed and personally hit.
Don’t get too comfy, next round in March ... so much for values of compassion and relationships UHG!!
Laid off today... worked on speciality network (behavioral) Worked for autumn for 11 years PN they always lay off people around the holidays which is just sad. Optim has had so many changes every year
It was 60 lay offs from what i was told Unfortunately i was one of the people who was laid off.
Confirmed. It happened today.
Remember the movie Office Space? And the weird guy with the Swingline stapler? He kept mumbling about burning the building down? Well the amount of Karma coming against this company (not for physical harm) but for crumbling financially is coming. It’s scary to process how many folks have been wronged by this company - we can watch Karma do its work
Laid off today from Optum in a PM role. Dont know my next steps but I do know I am actually relieved. Had so many conflicting directions with my role that this provider/member facing part of the business will continue to flounder. I guess culture and NPS dont mean much.
When is the next round expected? March??
This is terrible.. and not the first time UHC/Optum has done mass layoffs at this exact time of the year. When layoffs first started, many folks got a heads up that there would be 3 big waves. October, November/December and March. That's been pretty accurate to this point.. Let's hope it's not true, but in the event it is, update those resumes just to be safe.
I was terminated today I was completely shocked. To everyone affected by this I am sorry you received this gut punch three weeks before Christmas. I dedicated so much of my life to this organization I was such a fool! I hope Mr. Witty sleeps well tonight I know I will not.
Today 12/4 at noontime - 30+ employees, including social workers, nurses, managers and directors were a part of the lay off today a part of the women’s health division through Optum. “Reducing workforce to make health plans affordable for their members.”
Huge blind sided layoff in Medicare under Heim org. Over 100 people laid off including senior leadership, AD's, managers, social workers, cac's and community health workers. Last day 1/2. Per Maddron said individuals would receive severance information in an email by the end of the day.
30 people OEA-AS
I heard there were 190 laid off in Behavioral
45+ layoffs Optum strategic capabilities mostly biz analyst and CPC all under Nelson
8 months pregnant, just let go today after 8 years with Optum CMC.
Sam Edit is hit as well!
Yep! Laid off at 10am CST today. Got an invite for a “mandatory business update”.
We took some tough hits here on the Optum Physician Advisor Solutions side as well. Hearing about cuts on the UHC side too.
We're having an "Important Business Update" meeting at 4:30. Everyone that was invited is a part of the Ops-Pop Health Mgnt division (nationwide).
I was laid off today, and was gleeful. My bosses didn't know how to take my response. I told them I read it on a blog a week ago, and they were shocked. Not me! Glad to have worked with a great group of professionals and on to my next chapter. At least I got a severance package and am eligible for COBRA.
