Anyone have information about December 4th layoffs? Some have posted about mandatory department meetings on this day. It was posted here about the November 6th layoffs prior to the date and this was spot on. Can anyone please confirm the December 4th date as next round?

Yes massive layoffs today for Optum and UHG. I know of several already.
I was part of the last round. I loved the people I worked with and the work itself but I can honestly say that while it is stressful the amount of stress that those so called leaders put on teams is much more significant. They are so called leaders and I am happier not having to listen to their whiny voices on a daily basis. They are unfortunately taking Optum down with them.
Wow whenever dates posted here always seem to be dead on. Please post line of business / Dept/ and roughly how many if known. We should all be aware of how much they are cutting and where. Prayers for all and hope you can still have a good holiday with 2020 bringing new and better jobs.
Yup my team has a mandatory manager meeting in 30 mins. Med clinical ops.
Optum wide reductions in force happening starting today to the end of year. Received word from upper management a few hours ago. This will be the largest one yet.
I have just received word that the layoffs ARE happening today. I know if at least two Operations leaders (Director Level) have been eliminated. There are also at least 5 Supervisor positions working Operations have also been eliminated. Still can’t believe this is all happening during the HolidayS. Really puts me in the holiday spirit. The fun continues.
Layoffs today with Waste and Error. Not sure of the impact.
Sweeping changes and layoffs happening today/tomorrow in Optum BH. We just had a valued friend/manager let go and were told there would be more meetings to discuss said changes. All notifications are going out today and tomorrow.

Expecting Optum Behavioral Health to be hit hard today.
Expect more layoffs in Medicare and Medicaid division. UM reviews for Medicaid are going offshore. Medicare got fined for the 3rd year in a row for not meeting CMS guidelines.
Good luck to you all. Keep your head high. There is no shame in being layed off. Remember to call and tell your story to "Amy." and your local newspaper. Ask for the old legislation where jobs need to be posted and given to citizens where qualified versus an H1B1. Remember that era in the 90's where you couldn't hire a foreign citizen when there was a qualified American Citizen willing and able to work.

I'm hoping tomorrow's meeting isn't the same for you, but based on everything I've been reading on these boards, it doesn't look good. Consider not attending your meeting and, from a location not on company property, confronting your boss on a separate phone call shortly after your "meeting" starts. I smelled out what my "confidential" meeting invite was, and forced my management to squirm, albeit for a few minutes, and execute my layoff on my terms. Essentially, this meant meeting HR/management in another building outside my office area, so I wouldn't suffer the embarrassment being walked out the door in front of my former staff and colleagues. A small consolation prize, but one that meant a lot to me as I started my retirement. I wish you best of luck tomorrow and beyond.

It is on the Hub, if you filter your news feed to all of UHG you will see it or just hit all news. They give a very generic reason why in the FAQ section about being able to provide more healthcare to the masses aka cut employee benefits to the bone to help meet earnings expectations to keep top mgmt in power. This is coming down from the top. Your SVPs etc are being asked to play along even if they have concerns of employee morale and attrition. they do not give a Flying F.

They just reduced the ESPP. They will be continuing to cut everywhere. The layoffs will not stop. They will screw everyone on raises and bonuses this year hoping to get more to leave with no regard to keeping employees.

Yes, I heard there are more layoffs this month but not sure on exact date.
