Pay/bonus for upper level?

So many store level managers have jumped ship due to lack of support staff being taken away, continued increase in expectations with no possibility of reward, fear of being layed off, lack of pay increase and bonus and benefit cuts, oh I could go on and on and on. My question-have these same standards been applied to anyone above store management? I never hear of a RM or GVP leaving for a new job due to the same reasons store managers leave. Do they live with the same fear store employees feel, like you have to leave because your days are numbered? Do they have no motivation to drive sales, cut expenses, work longer, and do the job of what was previously done by 3 people and now is all left to just 1?
I read a lot of people complain their RM does nothing, not that I believe they can do nothing, but I really dont see mine do much.

I recently ran after 16 yrs. I did not get paid for my accrued vacation. I gave a 4 week notice so I could help them transition. I was in a state that is a “pay out” state and am wondering why I didn’t get my 43 hours. Gotta say I am not surprised. Just disappointed.

The trend over the past several years is to increase the size of regions which means RM's have a heavier load. I suspect that RM's are too hesitant to share their true feelings so many of the store level issues are expected to be "handled". (I am sure there is a list of HO justifications that lightened the store level work load, of course, to balance out this higher expectation.) As a former RM, I witnessed numerous instances of upper management's dismissal of front line manager needs. I suspect this is even more pronounced now. Too much top heavy management and ego centered decisions. Go find another job now! Run!
