Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Are we heading in Layoff SZN?

Enough about the posts on bonuses and Ways top ten fail list. All good stuff, but now the holidays are over. There has been a real rumor about layoffs happening this month. It’s not unprecedented to have layoffs in January. What has changed at this place to think layoffs aren’t happening. My spouse is crying just about every day as she can’t deal with the uncertainty for our family and our small kids. It really messed up our holidays. I’ve been hesitant to post here, but finally got the courage. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance and God bless!

What is “Layoff SZN”? Is this a a special voluntary separation package? Asking for a friend, and myself.

Haven’t seen Steve M around any longer. That must mean layoffs are happening! I fear the worst. The other post isn’t jokers and ex layoff victims trying to ruffle feathers. It seems like the real deal.

The news isn’t looking favorable, boys! Looks like we’ll be standing in the unemployment line soon, and if we’re lucky we’ll be flying rubber dog sh– out of Hong Kong. Say it ain’t so! The other post seems to be pretty official. So paying close attention to it, as should all of you others. If anyone wants to join me in the Market for lunch, I’ll be by the ping pong tables.

What’s essential about anything at SWN? Other than janitorial staff to clean up epic t–d clogs on a routine basis? All the fluff and stuff is going to be reduced to nothing. Way will he left cleaning up his own messes with his Golden plunger.

Thanks to the last few posts. Glad my fellow SWNers are active. I can assure you I am a current employee. This cavalier attitude is from knowing I will never be laid off from SWN. Such a dumb comment to think a ex-SWN employee would be posting here. Why? They don’t work here and have moved on to greener pastures. Please. Let’s continue to talk layoffs and you are simply wrong. Layoffs 2020 will be like layoffs 2016. Don’t kid yourself.

No layoffs in any noteworthy amount. You may see certain positions/people eliminated that are not considered "essential". That's about it. Don't believe these projected layoff dates. Probably some bitter ex employee trying to ruffle feathers.

SWN will continue 2020 business as usual with the budget given.

Here’s my thought. There will be layoffs soon.

With all these views I wish more of you would post a thought or comment about upcoming layoffs. What are you afraid of? Most of you will be laid off in a few weeks. I survived the 2016 layoffs and every one since then. Will survive the 2020 layoffs. It’s a paycheck.

I doubt they’ll layoff on Friday so looks like we all made it through another week! Who wants to celebrate and meet up in the Market tomorrow and split an egg frittata with me? Also, big news to celebrate our great honor in WomenInc! Wow! So proud to work here!

Hey there! In the IT guy you met! You looked a lot different than I ever imagined for someone who posts on this site. Anyway, good times! Glad we spoke after our gawking about the upcoming layoffs. Sounds like you had some good scoop! Will you post so everyone can hear? Thanks.

Sounds like reality. I’ve also heard they’re also finalizing plans to have a “4 year anniversary momento”’ to be able to give to layoff victims on their way out the door. Hopefully most people have cleaned out their workspaces so all you have to do is grab that momento and sprint out the door.

Layoff buzz is next round is scheduled for the 4 year anniversary of 2016 layoffs. Make sure you are ready. Going to be tough with a very lean severance. We can’t afford the packages of 2016 in 2020.

No severance packages, they will graciously extend your without or b—s— cause termination date into the next month so you have health benefits for a full month.

How are the severance packages? What should I expect if I’ve been on boarded for 18 months?

Layoffs have been ongoing for a long time. They’re clever about it. Only one to three people at a time. There won’t be a massive layoff like 2016. They’re staying below the radar.

I heard same thing yesterday as I was getting coffee on 3 from a couple coworkers. Seems to be some real apathy going on now for a while. No confidence in anything these days. Lots of change in the air. My wife left me too! Took the dog and everything! Rough times. Hopefully no layoffs but I think it’s inevitable.

Heard someone posted about job openings in Springwood Village. Can someone provide details. Have good reliable transportation if that’s important

Already been given a soft heads up that my team will be laid off. It was one of those winks by my friend whose a leader.

I have to work to pay rent and for my kid’s dental work due in February. Layoffs are always bad but this is terrible news that its here again at SWN. What happened Weigh. You said never again under my watch yet here we are Layoffs January 2020!

Oh dear. This is what I was afraid of... my wife is a mess. What can I tell her to reassure our future? So troubling. I haven’t been here all that long. Didn’t realize the mess I was getting into. Guess we’ll wait and see. What is management doing to reposition or re-engineer or re-energize our company to prevent this?

Your concerns are valid and unfortunately for many of us are getting closer to fruition. There’s just no way SWN can continue without cutting G&A primarily with a reduction of headcount. The current natural gas price strips just don’t support this business model and will not for the foreseeable future until overall production declines which should lead to higher prices eventually. Maybe not January but reductions are coming soon !
