Who said the book drive goes in the trash?
No one.
Unsold Bargain clearance ,at my store ,does.
And yes at my store BN doesn’t donate a single book to the drive. Only the books customers purchase do.
Facts.

How I know you’re lying:

There is never clearance during the holiday season. It’s after. And yes, old clearance can be donated. Damaged clearance cannot.

The book drive does not go into the trash. I’m guessing you got canned (and probably for good reason seeing as you’re lying) and decided to say bull roar on the Internet to be vindictive.

The once mighty store has been a joke, in the industry and with customers and employees, for a long time !

Book drive totally misleads customers.
They think they’re getting a book for an underprivileged child for Christmas.
THEY DON’T.
It just adds more $ to BN .
We had bargain books from clearance. I asked if the kids books can be added to the holiday book drive. Was told NO.
The books went in the dumpster!
THAT’S BN !

Been saying that for YEARS !
Customers by the box. Which makes money for Barnes & Noble and Barnes & Noble makes a big deal out of making a contribution. They also make it sound like the kids are getting the books for Christmas. The organizations don’t even pick them up until after Christmas. Very deceptive practice.

And how many did BN donate?
The customers bought the books , giving BN money.
What did BN contribute?
NOTHING !

February sounds about right.
The managers are sweating? GOOD !
My manager was VERY uncaring when he did his part in firing our best employees in February, 2 years ago. He even joked about it, afterward.
Can’t wait for February!

Managers are sweating.
Inside talk: Fear is that cuts and benefits will be implemented by end of February. NOT end of fiscal year as many hoped.

I was in a local BN the other day. The manager (assuming he was a manager because he was the only one doing anything) looked completely miserable. He never looked or greeted a single customer that came into the store. Not that I care, but that says something. He must know info. about the future of that location if he was acting like that. I also have a feeling that most if not all BN locations are going to close in the coming year. With only a handful sprinkled throughout the nation. Goodbye Barnes & Noble.

Couldn't happen to a better company !
NOBODY will miss BN.
Lack of Cust svc .
Lack of empathy for employees.
Will go to local store when store closure announced and laugh in the Mgrs face !
