hostile meeting every week because of unknown last day work date??
Any good managers that had different styles, would listen to people, refuse to be bullies or bullied and not just agree with upper management were let go at the first opportunity. If there’s a RIF then get rid of the managers who care for the team and think for themselves. Keep those that tow the line. I know a couple of good managers let go and I miss them. I trusted them. None of those good managers are left.
I left due to this. It's nicer when everyone is working towards the same goal.
Simply smile state your opinions and ask who is the person who makes the decision? Then simply let them make it and deal with the consequences. It’s real simple as long as everyone sets aside egos. People these days all think they run the show and without clear defined authority you get chaos. Keep asking who makes the final decision. If no answer then literally walk out.
Why not go work somewhere else and be happy? No one is holding you back, other than your own fears.
Those around long enough will remember the "Cultural Transformation" training. One of the main points they tried to drive home is avoid "Birds of a feather, will flock together." It means that groups need to be diverse, a blend of ethnicity and gender. That message has long eroded and IMO is part of the problem today.
The aggression, confrontational attitudes and disrespect not only comes from managers but other employees who are favored by managers. Unfortunately for the employees on the receiving end of this behavior are at a disadvantage because the managers will always side with the employees in their favor. It is interesting that last year they had everyone take harassment training, unconscious bias training etc. How soon they forget.
Seagate have always had managers that manage with aggression. It has always been encouraged by upper management. Seagate londonderry have paid a company to come in and try to educate managers on how to be less aggressive and to treat people with some kind of respect.A leopard never changes its spots. If you're that type of person then you cant be changed.
Emblematic of a company in turmoil that is going down the c-apper
