@1hls, they have the moving packages for several reasons.
the most obvious one is nobody is going to leave their home in Anywhere, USA and go to North Platte, Nebraska if they are going to have to spend thousands of dollars of their own money and potentially take a loss on their current house and then buy a new home.
the second one is they already have a hard time keeping managers. if these guys didn't have that one year commitment and a relocation package hanging over their heads, then people would be quitting even sooner.
More locos in "storage" LOL
there is not enough power now to move what we have to move....they were having to space trains to West Colton due to lack of available helpers seeing as every train is underpowered as is....
So, so many six figure salary jobs to manage so few. If you are serious about getting very lean and cost cutting, cut some of the bloated salaries that contribute very little to the daily operations, in other words. Let the railroaders railroad.
Very few managers needed, our location proves it. Just “wing it” like we did when they cut 90% of our workforce, manager=gone, planners=gone, foremen=gone, mso=gone, mechanics and electricians cover all of it, and it still functions.
Cut at the top! Do we need a COO, EVPO, regional SVPs.... what are all these people doing? We have much less trains, but somehow more executives. How is this possible?
Eliminate moving packages! Why? How much you think they make? They don’t make enough money for me to go in managements it is. Then to make a person sell their home and go boss some other knuckle heads. Geez have some class and do your job while you got it. Then find another one
We need to eliminate the big moving packages all these managers get. They make more money on these than they do working
Who said we think our jobs are safe?
Start with the DRO'S, MYO'S and all upper management as they are useless to the railroad operation!!
Same guy talking to himself again
True, 600 more locomotives are going in storage, the goal is 3,000. Good luck yo,al..
Start with DROs
