Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

StraightUP article ... "Is PSR causing derailments?"...

There are 71 comments at the moment, the vast majority are full of very useful information that Omaha can use to increase safety and productivity....hopefully they actually listen.

If not, who makes the car knuckles we use and are they a publicly traded company? I'm always looking for a good investment....

In general upper management doesn't respond to feedback from employees or lower management.

I can't prove this, but I always thought that they polled employees only to find out how far they could push them before they break their workforce, not because they actually care or want to fix any of the problems.

They’ll listen to the comments just like they listen to the employee surveys. Maybe in the next StraightUP Beth can tell us to get a coffee.

Train makeup has changed, bigger manifest trains create a slingshot effect which relates to buff force. So the quick answer is yes, PSR is causing more derailments.

meh, IMO it's a play on words referencing "Straight Talk" and seeing as they appear to be publishing some very critical yet constructive comments from field employees I think I'm correct in my assumption.

Will they listen? time will only tell, but they're getting good solid feedback they can utilize if they so choose.

If the FDA was as bad as the FRA there could be 50% dog do do in our food and d–gs. Think about that.

Omaha definitely knows how to make things safer, they just won't do anything about it now. Their Corporate board keeps funneling in hedge fund managers that just want to keep the trains moving, and with an FRA that could give two sh–s about safety that's what's going to happen. Or will happen until one day in a heavily populated area some train derails and drops a tanker of anhydrous ammonia in someone's living room.

One day you’ll realize if you haven’t already Omaha already knows how to make things safer. But the safer they make it the less efficient it becomes. They calculate the trade off of risk to human life and profits and adjust their rules accordingly.

PSR doesn’t break knuckles. Inadequate train handling by employees does.
