Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Our department has always been extremely frugal about travel. This will not be a change for us.

Visited a Cvs store , wanted to see what kind of operation purchased us ! Impossible to believe! These stores are a ghost town and remind me of a dollar store in appearance but a luxury spa price point ! Go figure , no help in any store!

If Aetna was doing well they would not have sold. Period. You are now part of CVS. Trash them all you want, but it’s your company too. Aetna is gone

@129jajj2-3isv I seem to recall cvs posted a loss on the previous 2 quarters BEFORE the numbers from Aetna started coming in. The first quarter with both cvs and Aetna revenues combined, cvs posted a profit. Figure it out... Aetna put cvs over the hump. Aetna is the one making cvs look good. Aetna purchase by cvs is/was simply a move to stay relevant, considering all the things happening consumer wise, online shopping, fellow competitors, Amazon/Pillpack, retail apocalypse, etc. Now watch cvs run Aetna into the ground doing things the “Cvs way”! I get the idea of wasteful spending, and cutting back for good financial health, but cvs likes to cut things down to bare bones nothing. That’s no way to run a retail store and no way to run an insurance company either.

These are all pretty generic cost saving measures that are commonly pushed in most corporate environments. Quit whining

If Aetna was doing so well, then how did they get acquired by a “dying” company? Companies generally don’t sale themselves unless there are problems somewhere.

CVS is an overbloated failing retail operation. Aetna is not a retail store - we have to care and feed our member health plans and yes this requires actually going to see our customer - albelt they are internal customers. CVS came in here and butchered our 401k, trashed our benefits, tripled our premiums for health insurance. We are a health insurance company now - Retail is dead this is why Aetna is carrying CVS - the proof is in the numbers. Why do you think we beat the street this year - its not from front store sales..... we have very strict regulatory reporting as well the second that CVS interferes with the necessary manpower and operations it takes to perform this type of reporting and gets fined - the gvt will shut them down and we will continue to loose state insurance bids.

Wait until CVS gets fined by the Federal government. For the last year, our department has been seriously backlogged and out of Compliance with federally mandated turn around times. No one cares. This is definitely not the "Aetna Way."

CVS better wake up and get this c-ap together – insurance is NOT retail. They are going to learn the hard way or drive Aetna into the ground just like all their grungy stores. I NEVER shop at CVS. My local store is grungy, smells and is like a ghost town. There is no way I would EVER get medical care at CVS.

To the Buffoon Who said Aetna employees are/were used to a certain standard of working conditions. Dude are you kidding me? You guys were basically use to being spoiled and entitled to spend and expense anything you wanted. Now that we bought your wasteful business and incurred your debt doing it you want to fault CVS for belt tightening. You’re on crack. Believe me, I am not a advocate for the way CVS runs their operation, but you are being ridiculous complaining about not being allowed to spend someone’s else’s money any way YOU want.

Cvs is a retail pharmacy, and Aetna is an insurance company. Two completely different businesses. Cvs is trying to take a “one size fits all” approach to running Aetna, meaning they will run Aetna the same way they run the cvs pharmacy stores. This will lead to the downfall of Aetna. Aetna employees are/were used to a certain standard of working conditions, and cvs is waltzing in saying “sorry, goodbye to all your little perks, time to run things the CVS way!” This cannot end well...

Coffee. What entitles you guys to free coffee? You’re complaining about travel and meeting restrictions? This is where tons of money is wasted in many companies. Looking at your new mandate, I would say it is reasonable for your new owner to ask a former company who was obviously wasting money to cut back. We at the retail side have been getting cut endlessly (and they’re still cutting) for you since the announcement was made two years ago. I’m glad it’s your turn.

I said this previously and people didn’t believe me. I said wait till Cvs starts running Aetna the “cvs way”. And what do we have here? Aetna being run the “cvs way”. It’ll only get worse from here. Welcome to CVS! An endless amount of rules, regulations, and red tape. And then they cut you down to nothing. Gotta make those numbers! At cvs, budget cuts are the name of the game now, and anything to save a buck. Sorry that you have to put up with this, but that’s cvs for you!

Haven't had coffee and donuts for meetings in years. Most don't go past 1 so lunch doesn't have to be provided.

I don't think you realize what the rest of us are dealing with. These cuts seem very reasonable. Get over yourself and buy your own damn coffee.
