i Believe that the guys there were sheet metal guys before they were foreman. The UP don’t want Foreman doing locomotive work, so you can’t just make them machinist or electricians. What would s— is that lay-off the guys that been there for 20 years and then bring in an machinist for across the country. At least let them guys decide if they want to exercise their seniority or take a cut in pay to stay home. Either way they have a bunch of locomotives there and on supervisor that work on them. How would you handle it ? Can’t make an exception for just one little yard or the entire integrity is questionable.

Yeah. I had typed more in the first post but was busy and did not notice it chopped a bunch out.
If they fill these jobs, it is scary where else it will go. Universal employee doing 3 crafts work, for less pay. I can't even figure out why the unions aren't talking about this, and why the SMW Union would even accept it. I know the unions are broken, but I did not know they were this broken.
$5737 a month. 7 days a week. All services rendered. No OT no Holiday pay.
The SWIA contract say pay is divided up by 242.7 hours a month (30 days). That puts the pay at 23.64 an hour. As compared to the jobs they cut which where locomotive foreman at a rate of 39.10 an hour. With OT and holidays.
