@glc, Ireland was the earliest round of outsourcing UHG implemented, so you already unwittingly replaced Americans in your jobs and being laid off is really karma for anyone over there. Americans are "bleating on about offshoring" because this used to be an American company, hiring Americans and–most importantly–paying the appropriate taxes into the American gvmt for American public services. Now UHG is a mercenary paying folks in India, Phillippines, Ireland or in any other location that has cheap labor and helps the Board dodge paying the appropriate benefits, salaries, and civic and federal supports/taxes that comes with being based in America.

Can't assume UHG doesn't layoff on Monday or Friday and if someone is let go on Monday or Friday its not a layoff. Its a big company.....there are all sorts of stories and timings!

Companies usually don't layoff on Monday and Friday. Termination on those is generally not due to layoff

@1291V9cH-pqj. Yes! I've never had an escalated HelpDesk ticket take over a week until now, and everyone I chat with re status is in the Philippines. If that's how the whole corporation will function with offshore teams, then UHG ain't going to last.

Have heard 12/4 is another magical date. Helpful for those who celebrate holidays.

Yes, in Ireland...kind of throws a spanner in the works for the America first crowd bleating on about offshoring. Lose of income is loss of income wherever a person is in the world.

Can't say I've noticed since all servers, IE and Jabber are down... guess offshoring the helpdesk is working out for them...

Have not heard anything more widespread but do know a couple of people i use to work with were let go earlier this week. Not sure if that was planned from an earlier larger layoff with this being their last days or was new. But yes they are still trimming
