Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How long until the final end?

When could we expect the company to shut down for good? I want to be realistic, there is no way out of this. What is better (or the lesser of two evils) at this point, jumping ship or holding out until the final end?

Hopefully soon. But stay til they close, so you can draw Unemployment. That's what I did when Bradlees Dept. store closed.

@128AWlFP-1abi Only in Eddie's head would $15 billion in net operating losses be an asset desperately worth keeping. The biggest joke of all is that $4 billion of it was SYWR giveaways. Eddie's as bad at finance as he is at running a business.

Leave as all others are doing. It takes a long time to find a job so start now as soon as possible. Go on interviews, keep updating and sending out your resume. It takes 3-6 months to find a job these days. Turn on LinkedIn and actively seeking a job so they can start calling you. If there's a liquidation there's no PACKAGE OR SEVERANCE. don't be an id–t.

ESL is trying to keep this open long enough to get his hands on the NOLs from Sears holdings. Won’t get it if Transformco is forced into BK before spring.....so if you’re staying I hope you’re getting a lot of money for it because ESL is going to get millions and couldn’t do it without you.

There is no honor in sinking with the ship. When you find another job leave.

Almost all of the buyers were laid off on this last round. They were allowed to buy a little bit of spring merchandise but that was it. This means there is nothing bought for summer and nobody left to buy anything for next fall.
The plan must be to shut down completely before summer.
No more merchandise =no more stores.

I would look for another job while you are still working. Good luck

So there have been store closures about every 3 months.
I'm thinking we're done by March.
Hang in there and collect that paycheck!
