DXC is 'fixable' according to El Reg

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/11/19/dxc/

Many classic comments worth noting in the news story, such as this gem:

"We will not tolerate poor leadership, we will not tolerate bullying behaviours and we will ensure that we have consistent leadership behaviours to help us as individuals succeed and in turn help the company succeed."

Who are or were the poor leaders and bullies at DXC?

Undoubtedly one of the same dullards who was making the comment that was quoted. DXC is a car crash that has already happened. It is what came from welding the remains of two previous car crashes together and then slimy, 2nd hand car dealers pi---d it out and set it loose on the world. Looks good from a distance but don't kick the tyres or look under the hood; wouldn't pass an MOT and is fit only for scrap.

I don’t understand the people that think the “bullying” will stop because old mike is gone. Those issues may have started at the top but were and still are condoned throughout the whole organizations by all levels of management. It’s been known for years that one of DXC’s policies to reduce head count is to bully and discrimate against employees so that they quit and severance does not have to be paid. That policy is alive and well today. I see it everyday. It is also why there are so many employee lawsuits against DXC in the pipeline.

One of my colleagues who left DXC a few months ago actually went back. The reasons were multiple (better position, better pay, dissatisfied with the role they entered into,...); but the choice made sense for them.

It sparked a conversation between my partner and I: under what circumstances could I be enticed back to DXC. I couldn't imagine any scenario that would entice me back And now there is Sal the Savior, He who recognizes the problems and wants to fix them. It prompted a rethink: Suppose all my grievances with DXC were magically resolved. Would I go back?

No.

The reason is culture. What Mike 2.0 giveth, Mike 3.0 could taketh away. The core culture of DXC is rotten; Sal is slapping a new coat of paint on and making all the right noises, but it will take years to shift the culture of that company. Who know how long Sal will stay as CEO? Nobody; and just as the board tossed ML the could toss Sal and replace him with another ML who undoes everything.

No; there is nothing that could tempt me back to DXC. New logos and employee satisfaction surveys didn't work out so well when CSC / HP became DXC; why expect anything different this time around?

I would say the refocus is sensible! What do all our business partners want? Access to our customer base to sell them stuff, something that ML never understood. Where did ML expect to get the digital engagements? the opportunity was on his doorstep all the time, but he chose to c-ap on it..

Dxc will probably be a sub $10B org before it becomes clear whether rescue is possible. People are way past "fool me twice..." the only thing that will keep people @ dxc now is 'pro-acftive' retention incentives - counter offers to arrest attrition will be bitterly spat back.

But it's getting a new purple logo! So things MUST be turning around there now!

I’d love to see DXC pull round, for everyone that needs a job there, but I’m sceptical it can be done, how many revival initiatives were there in the antecedent companies that comprised DXC? Dozens in the last decade and a half, from Hurd, through to Apotheker and Whitman, all of them screwed quality workers and customers over, I have no doubt the next man will do the same sadly.

We shall see.

Agree with agp very late to do something and all he can do is a) sell some non core bits up b) top to bottom reorganization getting rid of major problem - the various Lower - middle ineffectual management c) define DXC IP and d) consolidate and improve processes and internal systems.

Too late. Customers know now what DXC is. You can't change so bad reputation.

They need to jettison Erik Wahab - Zurich Global AE, who has had a ruthless hold on that account. He did nothing to elevate it. He inherited a great account. The people, who left DXC/CSC and the account built it up are now long gone.

Salvino added: "We are not running a traditional business. We are not running a digital business. We are running one company.
So now they're trying to revert back to what they claimed to be pre-merger... Complete waste of time and money.
Get your VCs ready. You're going to need them soon.
