Yet another round of layoffs today. Seems like every six months give or take.

It is easy to get mad at Neil and the Executive team during these times and comment in how it helps their bonuses, but they are people too. I am certain they dont get excited when they see those orders come down, but it is a business and as such- has to be what is in the best interest of profitability and market growth. None of us know everything that goes into these decisions and why the chosen ones are chosen, but these aren't quick and thoughtless decisions. The decisions directly relate to the jobs they were brought in to do: profit growth, market growth and pivot. Unfortunately there is collateral damage along the way. I too expect my days to be numbered at some point, but am doing all I can to be marketable and attainable in the meantime. It is never personal, it is business.
According to management market research reports (where they had meetings with execs):
Analytics is basically going to be shopped or run down. If you're in analytics, you're going to be laid off.
If you're in HR, accounting, customer support - any sort of "out-sourceable" jobs will be cut.
Lots of consolidation about to happen.
How else are leadership supposed to get their bonuses, come on people layoffs are just a small sacrifice, Neil needs another house...remember “design for growth”
