Do you predict that there will be Aetna Layoffs 2020? Any news or rumors?

My job as a manager if case management was eliminated. My last day was December 19, 2020. Several Artna jobs were eliminated in our state, the largest number of members in any state where they have a Medicaid health plan. Seems short sighted to me. A pandemic, job loss and more people going on Medicaid. What a cruel company! Do yourself a favor, don't work for them! They don't care about the people they serve ot their employees,
I was laid off in October, last day was 11/20/20! 14 years! Hartford, CT Medicare Oversight department. And my job was reposted prior to me being laid off! I pray we all get through this. It’s something better, hope we find it soon🙏🏻
Layoffs announced at a healthplan that just won large ITNs. It appears nobody is safe from the beancounters. 15+ year employees, gone in the blink of an eye. They need to at least attempt to quantify what happens to a business when the people carrying it are booted out and the lowest paid employees are left holding the bag. Yes, you save on wages, and lose much more due to liquidated damages, failed contract bids, and bad data.
Some Aetna people (non-Hartford) were told yesterday (Friday the 13th of November, no less!) that their positions will be eliminated before the end of 2020. I don't know the details.
This facility in woodland hills california is practically empty during the week so I don't know
why they will keep it open. Since a lot of them don't want to be there, I don't view why they would keep it in operation for much longer.
I agree with what was stated on the indeed website where I took this review below.
I just updated it to include a little of my own experience as well. However it is completely accurate.
There is nothing that I witnessed there where I would disagree.
It was really disgusting actually. Here is how I felt below.
I was a female account administrator at the aetna in woodland hills california and they are primarily a collection of employees who have been there for a long time. Meaning all processes are outdated, which means no innovation, and work is doubled. No one is open to new ideas or processes. Senior employees feel that their time with the company allows for them to be unprofessional with no consequence. Management is afraid to speak up and correct those behaviors. This makes anyone new feel uncomfortable. The work could be less if their processes were improved. But, the environment is absolutely toxic and the pay is awful. I would not recommend working there.
This is for the person writing the comment below.
You shouldn't be concerned unless you will be communicating
with a lot of the customer service area. However they are suppose to be trained to not give you
a hard time with anything.
If you're asking if this place will go out of business.
It is way to large and they will always make money because of the business they are in.
I am signing up with Aetna health insurance, that will start in January. Should I be concerned?
I was a casualty of the latest layoffs. Almost 22 years of loyalty given to this company and obviously that doesn't mean anything. Things definitely are NOT the same since CVS took over. Well done CVS/Aetna to cut jobs in the middle of the Pandemic while your profits are up.
The fact that all of the Medial and Medicare LPN's were laid off sickens me having server loyally for over 15 years I am dumbfounded that Nurses who have done a magnificent job are now going to be on the street in the middle of a pandemic and what's worse these highly skilled LPN's will 9/10 not find anything paying comparable to what they are making in their eliminate Jobs. I am besides myself.
52 Medicare Precert LPNs were told their jobs were being eliminated on Oct 6 20. New titles started popping up none for LPNs. Last day of work is 11/20/20.... now they have a RI Covid team( contract), concierge positions and those jobs pay less. Then they tried to put the eliminated LPNs in the Minute Clinics... so sad to be laid off before the holidays. Not even to try to help the 52 nurses affected try to find a job in the new aspect of the new titles
I am an Aetna employee and have been here for 30 years. Things were never like this until CVS took over. They made a big mistake getting rid of Mark. Right there shows what kind of company they are. They just keep taking away our benefits and screwing us over any way they can think of. They keep getting rid of Aetna management and replace them with CVS employees that have no idea how to run an insurance company. They are going to run this company into the ground.
Over 1000 job eliminations this week. I dont know the details.
October 7, 2020 - layoffs announced today.
There are layoffs in my department underway as I typed this. 1st layoffs left October 1st. The next leave November 20 so sad.
Just was told that LPNs have just been let go in Precert Dept..! Ain’t that something
I believe they will close the woodland hills branch soon.
It is in california for those who do not know this area in los angeles county area.
For one thing people only come in a few days a week. For another they need to pay for parking for those that come in. They already work remotely one third out of the week. So why come in the rest of the week.
It does not sense.
It is also unproductive and the worst place I have ever been to. I was there for a long time as a female account administrator and there was a lot of rude behavior. It was between the lower level employees there.
Also a lot of unproductivity and gossip going around the place.
This was in all the departments basically.
There were constant complaints that could have been easily taken care of if they were allowed to speak openly about thie issues.
Instead of doing that, people just tried to put others down in order to get ahead of other employee.
There was a lack of good instruction that was purposefully intended to harm those that were not there for a long time. They only chose to help those that were friends with each other. I would even go as far to say that they were violating some of the relatively newer general harrasment laws that were recenly passed in the state of california that were implement recenlty.
As a long term employee who was there since they worked at the older facility before they went to this new place, I found it horrifying. The new and comfortable furniture and secluded resting areas didn't improve anything at all. They seemed to treat each other worse with each passing day. Just because of viewing this I do not think they have a reason to keep this place going.
Luckily I left soon after the relocation to this place.
My wife was told on 8/26/20 she is being laid off. She has worked at Aetna for 20 years. Just like that treat her like trash. Not a "we can help you find another job at Aetna?" No!! just throw her to the streets. This is what happens when there are mergers. Especially when the CEO LM doesn't care about people. Ask his CVS employees how they like working Christmas day and then their hours are shredded to nothing come January.
I'm the female account administrator that wrote the criticism just below what you wrote. Did you work at that place also.
Making hand over fist dollars from COVID 19 and its still not enough for these people until employees blood is on the gears they're grinding them up with. Putting employees first is a joke.
I posted a review I agree with absolutely.
I was an account administrator there and agree with absolutely everything written below.
The original review was posted on the indeed review site where you can view it.
There is one thing I disagreed with that I will not post below, but you can find on the original review.
It is about good health insurance. The reason I don't agree is because I
have never heard in any forum where a place does not provide good health insurance at all.
They all give just enough adequate or the basic to let you think you have it good.
Anyway, you have been forewarned to not apply here if you see anything.
Although with my own position I should have been relatively respected, I was treated very rude and awful by all the workers who had been there for longer years or decades more than me. I was there a long time and did not receive any respect. The treated the friends they had there just fine, but they did the exact opposite to anyone else. They are all fending for themselves at this place.
Here is what I pasted from there.
little pay outdated processes
former employee woodland hills california
Aetna in woodland hills is a collection of employees who have been there for a long time.
To the person who posted about dubai.
We have workers there?
Ironic since I believe health expenses are completely free in such a rich country.
Also do you know what is going on with dental provider department.
This is where they update dentist office information every year.
Such as state verification, address changes, additions, terminations, changes with the name, etc.
Anything you know would be great
Thank you.
There were very recent layoffs in Dubai UAE. I do not know the entire scale yet...
So what is going on? Does anyone know out there? I have not seen any updates to this thread lately.
I am trying to find out what will happen to the data provider services analyst department or dental provider department. It is located in a facility in the los angeles county area.
You would know this place I'm describing since aetna and anthem are both located in the same exact facility.
I specifically need to know if there has been any layoffs recently there.
It should be rather easy to find out, if anyone out there knows of anything I would appreciate it.
Even if it is just a rumor or the a known fact. Anything at all you would know.
Thank you.
I have not seen any new update recently.
Can someone please give an update as to what is currently going on?
I would appreciate it.
Thank you.
Most Aetna people in my state are resigning because they think we may have a lay-off. They have frozen our hiring and constantly talk about how our admin and staffing cost are too high. The health insurance is extremely high cost. After Mark Bertolini left nothing is the same. We think it will all go downhill from here.
It's already started. They relieved FL and Texas staffs for their complaints department. My cousin works in their FL office and was just laid off.
Any updates?
Florida is $8.46 I believe. That is why we loved Mark B as our CEO. He raised minimum wage for Aetna to $16.00. I don't know if that $16.00 is still in effect with CVS.
I'm not sure where you work but in most States I believe the minimum wage is over 10 dollars an hour. If you're in a State below that, I feel bad for you.
For perspective, what department are you in? Location? I am in IT in Hartford.
Yes. Read the CVS Layoff board. Lots of very unhappy people at CVS. CVS is worse than Walmart. Anybody making over $10.00 an hour at Aetna should be worried. They are going to turn an insurance company into a retail operation. I don't think most of their store Managers even make 50k a year.
I predict they are going to get rid of anyone who makes a certain amount of money or has been with the company long term. They will reduce salaries, leave and benefits. Anyone who they deem makes "too much" money in comparison to what they pay their retail employees.
I suspect their will be layoffs in either first or second quarter.
Our department has been seriously backlogged for a year. We are seriously out of compliance with Federal regulations. No one cares. It's really strange and not the "Aetna Way." I guess non-compliance is the "CVS Way."
