I was laid off in June 2020 after 24 years with HealthNet and Centene. Once I was moved under Centene management in November 2019, it was all downhill. Our successful IT program was cut and I hear now that the new team hasn't accomplished any fixes or improvements and this team will soon just be senior level Service Desk. All of my managers and directors from the last 7 years have been laid off too.

Layoffs with Heath Net hit all different staff with different tenures, some were there for 10-15 years! heard due to owing state back money, lose in commercial member numbers, covid-19... take your pick for the excuse while the company takes in billions...

Centene laid off 80 people last week in the Florida offices. Managers, supervisors and regular staff, some with over a decade of tenure. No reason given besides economic impact of covid.

Rumor is 2020 Q3 "LIFT AND SHIFT" downsizing at several Centene health plan departments like med management and quality departments.

Work to be centralized like wellcare model. Could see over 200 employees let go at several plans.

Good luck!!

But MFN made his 44 million. I'm sure the Senior Management is not suffering.
They really do not care about the 'little people'

Wow, on Valentines Day! That's harsh!
Wonder who MFN is paying to keep all these layoffs out of the news?
It's not just Trillium and Wellcare. Centene emps have been hit pretty hard, especially older workers.

Trillium offices in Eugene,Oregon are laying staff off on February 14, company leadership said there would be a reduction of 60 to 70 here, going from 445 to 380 positions. I know more layoffs are coming.

Neidorf is in several articles talking about Centene now being a $100 billion dollar company. Too bad they don't mention all the dedicated employees that were cut to make it happen.

We're seeing massive layoffs across the state of Oregon with more sure to come. Many of us have been here with Trillium and Healthnet awhile, and they're targeting: People who negotiated for higher wages; people over the age of 50 with higher health risks / burden of insurance costs; and basically anyone who isn't a yes-man.

Many of us have seen the struggle since Centene acquired us in 2016, seen most of our contracts cancel and members leave. It was inevitable.

Get out while you can. Seriously. There is no future with Centene.

What I can't figure out, is for a Fortune 100 company who pays their CEO 25 million plus, they sure know how to destroy rather then acquire and build a company. They come in, merge with your company, Let go anyone who is middle management or supervisory, bring in theirs, and there is NO infrastructure, no polices, procedures, no one writes down how they want you to do your job. Its all just get it done fast, and do more, do more, but no helping hand from them. They tell us they don't want to change our company, but that is baloney. I knew that going in. And now I am laid off after 5-10 yrs and new hires that are still being trained are kept. yeesh

Healthnet Oregon has been hit with layoffs this past week. Such a sad day too, seems they've kept a lot of people who don't enjoy/do their job opposed to those that do.

WellCare has been hard after the deal closed. It’s not over yet. Nearly 150-200 laid off in the first full week after the acquisition. Expect more in week #2. It will continue in waves at least quarterly.

Centene FL based employee here- and trust me we are feeling the stress and our cuts started in Oct 2019 and ended December 2019, not to say they won't start up again. Finance so far hasn't felt the squeeze but nothing is safe right now.

Detroit-based Meridian employee here, who just went through being acquired by WellCare. I echo the previous comment that it’s not just Centene employees, it’s everyone. Please, let’s all support each other through these tough times.

Hey all, WC employee here! I’ve been following both the lay-off pages and I would suggest the same for you too. We’re all feeling the stress and feeling unsure of our futures with this new company. Please know, it’s not just Centene having layoffs, but us too. I wish you all the best, and hope we’ll get to work together in the future

Centene has already laid off over 100+ employees just days after closing with acquisition of WellCare. One would think WellCare acquired Centene. First round cuts were in CA, looks like they are targeting Health Net employees. Company hates being in Los Angeles. Moral is horrible!! For those thinking of applying for Centene, DON’T DO IT!!! The company’s ONLY focus is acquisitions. You’ll constantly be moved around, shifted into a position you hate until you are forced out.

Who posted Centene doesn't discriminate and no cuts from the WellCare purchase?
Centene just cut 100 IT jobs in St. Louis in Nov! MANY were over 50.
Not cool!

I think that comes from what some WC employees have seen in the past. I hope they have a place for everyone. What a blessing that would be for everyone.

How are you able to tell its descriminating against 50? So far no layoffs announced in either company after official closing.

So sad that it looks as though WC discriminates against over age 50!! Not cool! Lawsuit waiting to happen! Centene doesn’t discriminate at all!! It’s going to be interesting.

It will be just like HealthNet. Keep the WC people, layoff the Centene people who have been there. Gotta pay for that corporate jet!

Patching is not the only way to secure an organization. Go talk to your IT security team if you need help understanding that.
