Cigna layoff over 70 employees during the pandemic in the claim department PPN- they outsource to Tennessee and Philippines only to cancel the contact with the outsourcing company to Now Hire new employees instead of give the opportunities to all those affected during the pandemic! Way to Go Cigna .. Does David Cordani to talk about what really happens a cigna internally or isn’t that good for PR

All insurance companies are laying off. Get out of this I industry! I worked for this sh–––y company for 15 years and yes I was let go and the lazy non productive employees were left behind. I worked like a dog and got more and work while my loser co–worker would miss daily meetings consistently and never do any stitch of work and he would get all the praise. I just did not get it!

About the severance post which makes no sense. You just get two weeks for every year you worked. That’s it. It’s that simple. No complicated formula to follow.

They just laid off many high profile positions. The crazy thing is they keep they s–tworkers and let go the good workers who have been here 15-25 years. These people prob got the Mac raise so make the most, so they do save the most by cutting. There are people who have sucked everyday since hired and they are still there 10 years later. The good workers get penalized with more work while the sucky people never get let go. It’s insanity!

Correction to severance post...savings of $54k, not $77k.

Anyone in the pharmacy unit should not be surprised to be let go after Dec 2020. The reason is a cost saving measure due to the change of control language in the severance policy. Industry norm is that for two years after a change of control, the severed employee receives four weeks of severance for each year of service. Once the two year change of control period has past, its back to two weeks for every yr. So, lets say you worked for them for 20 years and you earn a $100k salary. With the severance package within two years of a change of control you would receive (($100k/52)*80) or $153.8k. Whereas you would receive half of that ($76.9k) after the two year deadline of the change of control. Hence, if you were laid off on Oct 1 they would have to pay you $154k with no additional service from you. But if they waited until Jan 1, 2021, they would only have to pay you $100k. (3 months of salary + standard 2wk/yr-of-service severance) for a savings of $77k...and they got thee more months of service from you. Makes no financial nor operational sense for them to eliminate anymore jobs until after Dec2020. Continue to gain intellectual assets for less cost...No Brainer!! Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

“How else can we make a difference?” Cigna CEO David Cordani is always inspiring us to ask this question. @Cigna

HIRE BACK ALL THE PEOPLE YOU LAYED OFF IN THE PAST YEAR!

CGI=Cigna Group Insurance. They handle Short & Long Term Disability, FMLA, Critical Illness, & Hospital Stay benefits. The layoffs did indeed happen and effected the whole division. They were not centralized to a specific location or department.

People who have been let go with severance were not offered any jobs in lieu of layoff... we were all blindsided.

Severance won't be offered if they have other jobs to offer you that are similar.

Can you provide additional details on the "certain employees"? Are you talking about service operations such as call or claims? IT? sales ? Management? Vendors? Do you have any details on how they will roll this offer out to the "certain employees"?

Rumor is that CIGNA will allow certain employees to voluntarily leave with severance during 2020, in order to avoid a wide-spread lay off.
