If the economy turns around, do you anticipate any Antthem Layoffs 2020? Any news or rumors?

My whole department got laid off over 160 people. The jobs they are providing are 10 to 15 K less then what people are making. Their HR is not helping the ones that want to stay even though we were told they would. They are not giving a severance package but a "unemployment" package that you have to call anthem every week to get your money. PTO is not honored or will be paid for. But they expect all the work to be done and people to put in extra hours to make sure it gets done.

Anthem is laying off the majority of the IT Network and security positions the end of July 2020. The majority of functions will transition to IBM in India

You work long hours seven days a week during enrollment and then they lie about your performance and they don't give you a raise. Very unethical and Not trustworthy, so sad

I was laid off from Anthem in February 2020. After serving this company over 10 years and then thrown out and unable to land interviews. I have been around long enough to see how they operate so their action didn't disappoint. I'm most disappointed in myself in being loyal to such a heartless company. BTW, my entire department was layed off from the director on down.

Layoffs are coming. We have been told end of Feb, End of April and July again. Many longtime devoted employees and they dont care .They want quantity over quality service. Internal employees are applying for internal positions and they post on indeed and no interviews. Its very sad.

They have to pretend to interview without bias/discrimination. SAs in India make under 32k. Devs make $55k (ish). more than 50% less than US counterparts.

Anthem Insurance is like cheap, dollar store quality products. Way over valued. I'm looking for a cash only provider group who won't take insurance.

This is my prediction based on nothing more than observation:
They'll be coming for NASCO soon. Continuous trimming of all front line Customer Support (all departments) until the enrolllment period is over, when it will be full, ugly large numbers.
Leadership: Various Managers, Directors, VPs will be demoted or get cut 1Q/2020 just prior to bonuses. GBD departments not impacted by the enrollment period will be reorged by EOY starting w/RIFs in low numbers and increasing along the way through 1Q/2020. Once IT is trimmed tight, they'll come for the Business side. Watch for title changes. Depts loosing upper level leaders can look forward to reorg.

Everyone will see some loss as is the new norm in Corporate America now.

Unfortunately Anthem has a reputation as a layoff company. I was part of the RIF at the end of May. One thing I learned is that it is a much better world outside the Anthem walls. The process of finding a new job stinks but once you get a new position where they treat you like a person and not a throw away liability you will be much happier. I am.

Yes. Anthem layoffs have less to do with the economy than with extremely poor, costly business decisions and the choice to pay for those problems the fastest and least creative way- get rid of associates
