Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Layoff

Curious how the layoff process works at Dxc. Day of week? Does your manager do it with HR on the phone or in the room or does HR just do it and manager not involved. Any information would be helpful.

I was sent a meeting request from a manager on behalf of my senior manager. The next day I attended a meeting and was greeted by a HR rep. At exactly 1pm the senior manager called and gave me the bad (good?) news. He then hung up and HR explained my package etc. The thing is he didn't even have the guts to face me and he had done the same thing to two other people who worked with me. I really don't get how these "managers" can lay off someone over the phone. It just seems lazy and gutless. Have they no pride? This happened early this year and since then DXC as a company has been failing. They're already trying to sell off parts of the company to repay debt. How long before DXC is a distant memory? If you've been laid off, rejoice and move on as quickly as possible. If you feel down about the whole experience, ask yourself, would you really want to work for a company that would treat their people this way?

Phone call from manager on Thursday. I work from hom. Last day is Friday. Get a few emailed documents to look at and sign. Exit checklist on Friday with manager. Done. You are disconnected over weekend.

I was called by an external HR person for a meeting - who's job it was to let go of people fast. He did understand his job very well, because the people in my site only were in the meeting for 5 minutes, had to hand in their badge and computer and were guided to the door. Not even a chance to say goodbey to my colleagues. My manager was not aware of my layoff.

You've got that right!
Of course, we are required to take certain "ethics/legal" classes each year yet the company doesn't even abide by them!

@1lxm: So the company keeps those CLEAR values right to the end, huh?

It really depends on where you are located and if you work from home. I haven't (yet) been let go but I know plenty of others who have been.

Some of the people on my contract knew for up to a week they were being let go and they had their last day on Friday where they did an exit interview and handed in all of the company property.

Some on my contract were met at the door on a Friday morning and told they were let go. They were led into a room with management where an exit interview and HR information was given to them. They were not permitted to access their personal property (it would be mailed to them later - often up to 3 weeks later!). They handed in their badge and were escorted from the building.

Typically it's Thursday or Friday but depends on your region. In the US, folks often get the call on a Thursday and are gone by the end of the week. Other territories have different labor laws.

I just got a meeting request and an associated phone call. Was working from home, so your process may differ.
