Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Why not start unionizing?

Unions s— but, a large scale walk out would be fantastic. I mean you might as well try to unionize while looking for a new job while on the company dime. At least then you might be able to walk out on those t-waffles and fark them back a little.
I, personally, use hours of my work day looking for a better position at this point. I mean - what are they going to do - lay me off?
Mass layoffs make headlines - bad for business. Trickle layoffs are the way to go. I’d love to see the actual layoff numbers since we acquired stink-link (not that fartstream or broadhole were good either).

There has been zero integration. Windstream will turn up a couple OC48s between the CLECs and call it a day. They never migrate any traffic off the central office side or out of the collocations. So all those CLECs are still operating independently for the most part. And there are 4 or 5 engineering databases that I have to work out of daily.....and none are right. If windstream would migrate traffic properly they could close 70% of their offices and actually have a chance at making a little money. But thats never been the plan.

The REAL problem is all of these MBA's think they have it right. Then when it comes to the integration part they all fail, especially the IT/ back office piece.

100% this. If you let accountants and sales engineers run a service provider, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Unions work on the LEC side because they are a regulated utility. Along with that comes alot of expense, that is why CLEC's were successful for soo long. All of these mega mergers to merge all of these CLECs doesn't work. A regional carrier is a much better idea than a national one. This was proven with all of the baby bells after the ATT break up in the 80's.
