Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Writing was on the wall

Nobody wants to believe it will happen to them, in their shop, their craft. It's here! It's now! This is 2019 and the company has hit hard. Their goal was set, we have a long ride until 2021. I'm 22 years in and now I'm forced back to week days off. I've seen bad times before but this is going to be the worst I believe. Was a fella up here talking about injuries, not a terrible idea if your low seniority. Look out for yourselves people. Not the company. Who knows what the next two years will hold for us. Good luck to all my brothers and sisters. Dark days ahead

Well your brothers should have hired on at an earlier date. Then they wouldn't have to stress so much. Everyone knows the railroad isn't what it used to be. I wish them and everyone else the best. But 2021 is gonna take it's toll

You gotta be kidding me. I’ve got 2 brothers at NS stressing about losing their jobs and you are concerned about weekends off?

You should be thankful you are still working. I hope it works out for all NS employees and their families, even the ones who’d rather be concerned with working weekends rather than getting laid off or fired.
