Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Goodbye, friends. Thanks for nothing, upper management.

Well my time at Windstream has come to an end. In the last 5 years I've seen probably 10 layoffs.
Buying other companies is a great move to strengthen a prospering company, but only delays the inevitable in the weak ones. I came in right after the Nuvox acquisition. Norlight, Cavalier, Paetec, Earthlink ( and a few smaller)…. All just gave it a little more life.
But no matter how many times you're told 'your department/job is safe', that only means THIS time. I never thought I'd get the 2 minute meeting that changes everything. I guess I was lying to myself. Now we've moved a ton of work overseas. Why pay me 30, 40, or 50K when they can pay someone over there $2 a day?
Just a friendly reminder: if you open your door and I'm standing there with your pizza, please tip your driver well.
Also: more is coming. put on your life jackets.

Win stopped making decisions to improve the business a long time ago. The strategy has changed to restructure to make it easier for top management to legally embezzle more money.

They are also notorious for laying off during the holidays. Just look at the last 3 years.

If I were a business looking for these services, the only reason I would get a quote from WS salespeople is so that I knew what lying and sneaky looked and sounded like. I’d also video record it and have plenty of witnesses. Even the field techs roll their eyes when asked questions about this company’s leadership. We humanely shoot wounded horses. Just saying...

Get ready they’re about to crank it up. You don’t lose the money they did and expect to come out of bankruptcy. They’ve got to cut people and it’s coming in November

Much of windstreams management works from home and has little to no experience working in telecom. They collect a free check. That company doesnt stand a chance. We started consolidating equipment in the collos. Why have 12 DSLAM chassis when there are 8 ckts live between them. Then I was told to stop because the CFA rehomes cost money. I tried to explain you could then give back 11 DSLAMs worth of CFAs back and reduce your power and rack MRC.....PS, I have nothing else to occupy my day, no turnups. I was told to sit at the office(not home) and wait for jobs in ETA smh

I was where you are, I hope you find something great. I found that WS was paying about 20-40% less than other comparable companies when I started landing interviews. You will find better, believe me. I wouldnt trust WS with my used bathwater. Best to be rid of them.

Today was the last official day for a lot of those cut last week. No additional layoffs this week, that I've heard.

Personally I am ready to leave this dump. Work load keeps growing, exempt from OT, new boss has GED only (nepotism at it finest),
