Meant to say, only two apparel sample team people are left after today.

OIBT means online item build team. Its seems no one is left after today. The only good thing about it is the manger got the boot too. Well deserved.

I get it. I was laid off in August after many many years. It is awful, but I knew as you did too that with far fewer stores, they would never need all of us. It is hard because many of us worked at Sears for forever and remember a different company. That company has not been around for years and most definitely not in the last 5 years. Be thankful for the time you had and all the great people we worked with over the years. It is what it is. Anyone who worked at Sears for multiple years and made it through all those layoffs also has a marketable skill set for "working through transitions and turmoil" which many companies appreciate believe it or not. We knew how to pivot and change in order to preserve our jobs for many years.

Not that anyone thought anything differently, but based on some of the people in my “graduating class”, they’re not even trying to keep up the pretense of a turnaround at this point. 50+ people just in my meeting.

People stay for a variety of reasons. I was just laid off in August and stayed because I was paid well for what I did due to the risk in the company. Some have worked for the company for a long time and genuinely want to continue to try to make the company work. There are still a lot of long time people working there.....a lot of good hard working people. Sometimes it is hard to give up what you have done for so many years. Perhaps that is being naive or stupid to some, but it makes sense to those who stay and no one should be criticized for that.

Why does anyone still stay at this company anyway? I would think by now people would be fleeing so fast they wouldn't have time to lay them off. I guess the plus is if you are laid off you can get an unemployment check for a long while, nice paid extended vacation... maybe??

Close to 50% across-the-board. All teams asked/told to reduce headcount. Calendar invites for those effected have begun to go out. Good luck everyone and enjoy the greener pastures!
