Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Open enrollment

I can’t be the only one who thinks it’s strange that open enrollment started yesterday and not so much as a peep about it. I happened to check and if I do not enroll by the end of the offering period I would be dropped from all benefits. Maybe I’m overly skeptical of the company right now but I can’t help but wonder if keeping open enrollment hushed is intentional. Not to mention the plans this year are worse than last year. I guess I’m at the point where I’m happy to have a job and benefits for the time being.

Just an FYI, you will not get your severance payment until 3-4 payroll cycles......

Re Open Enrollment, anyone think it's fishy that the deadline changed from Nov 11 to Nov 6, and Nov 6 is also the rumored date of the next big round off layoffs? Maybe coincidence, but my layoff anxiety has me watching closely.

I was able to see the plans offered in my area late last night. I had a Premium Provider Plan this year and really liked it. I switched my PCP (after having the same one for 31 years) to go to a Tier 1. Now it’s taken away. For the best plan (Lower deductible) was close to $350 a paycheck with a $3000 ded/6k max out of pocket. I am currently paying about $160 for a plan with $20 copays, $1100 ded and only $3k max out of pocket. I was very bummed about the new plans.

I happened to check on the 16th and completed my enrollment. Have a new plan name but same exact offerings and same exact pay per period.

I just did a cost comparison between our coverage and the benefits of my husbands employer..Walmart. What's embarrassing is we will be going with Walmart's plan for my husband and kids rather than ours.

I noticed the same thing today. Usually by now I would of had emails and a few meetings about it. Also, there hasn’t been anything about pto purchase which is usually requested and approved before open enrollment starts in our department. Just another clue that more layoffs are coming. Ive has nothing anxiety for weeks no ambition to even to my job anymore bc of the unknown. I understand they are a big company and have to make cuts but cut the slackers and the people who are on cap and keep the ones that work mandatory overtime every week, only miss 4 days/occurrences a year and the ones who have seniority!!! I’ve always been proud to work at UHC but not anymore.

No one is to blame but yourself if you stay at the company. They are running a business...not a charity.

Agreed! They (UHC) will typically send out communications well before open enrollment begins. This year nothing. An email was sent out this evening stating that the system was down. Thus delaying open enrollment. Hmmm?!

I don't agree. I saw that a new plan is offered, at least in my state, for a copay only plan and premiums very low. The Bind option.

Yes same here. No information sent regarding open enrollment. Weeks ago just a postcard in mail. Nothing since😡

I think it’s what happens when your leadership is now in another country
