Nordam didn't go belly up. They were in constant legal dispute with Pratt about differences of opinion regarding "contractual obligations," all due to nordams manufacturing deficiencies (tried something new for 500/600 and it backfired). They kept p-ssing each other off and eventually nordam flipped them the biggest bird possible by filing chapter 11 to write off the PW nacelle program (probably knowing GD wouldn't let the 500/600 fall completely on it's face). GD basically got stuck with bill and acquired the PW nacelle IP while nordam happily went along their way making all their other customers' products.

I don't know where "up here" is that you are talking about, but the company that just laid us all off has 500s and 600s sitting with serious issues getting engines on them due to the supplier Nordam going belly up middle of last year. This is public knowledge. Gulfstream had to acquire Nordam out of bankruptcy to have any access to engines at all, probably at a significant cost to the company. This is one of the reasons the company is doing so bad financially and they had to lay us all off. Any loyalty I have to Gulfstream is done. I have been through many RIFs in my 30 year career - survived most. I have never been through one so poorly handled. This was gruesome. I am taking a good bottle of scotch and my severance and I am going to try to reclaim my life after giving it basically up for Gulfstream over the last decade. Might even retire, although I have some runway left and connections for new opportunities.

Funny you say you were laid off in 2015 and listed the nordam acquisition as one of the reasons. The nordam acquisition didn’t occur until 2018 so .....

What engine issues? Up here we are being told the new models are thriving.
