Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Death by a thousand cuts...

  • ...and layoffs. This past weeks have been so exhausting, first waiting for this to happen, and now not knowing when will it end. Could someone please tell me why they couldn’t do all layoffs at once? Think everyone would preferred that way. Was their intent to be so cruel, or is there a logical explanation to this?

Humans are not valued at Gulfstream - The way they consistently hire and lay off is proof

No one was forced to do anything, if they felt it was time to move on, it was a personal decision and choice.

I was laid off in the RIF Dec 2015. 1100 ppl. They were way over budget for R&D cost for the new aircraft, NORDAM acquisition, G600 engine issues. Bad management is still in place. Lay them off instead. Many friends were laid off today. good thing they were ready to retire. The severance package and a bottle of good scotch will make it all better tonight. Sorry for the rest of the contractors, and newer folks. Trust me, been there. It s—ed, but it has gotten alot better for me now....Just have to dust off the resume...economy is still very good, even in aviation

If someone was thinking of retiring or leaving, they'd be a fool not to wait to see if they were part of the reduction simply because of the severance package. Even fairly new employees would get SOME severance - when you resign/retire you get NO severance.

It forced a bunch of people to leave or retire ahead of the RIF. all part of the master plan, I'm sure. This is not their first RIF and it most definitely will not be the last. Very few, if any, worker-bee engineers were impacted, but that might come much later....
