Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Nobody should ever work for free

If you have to work over your 45 hours just to get everything done, then corporate is seriously in the wrong! Like this company doesn’t take enough of our lives from us, and now we work for free?? Disgraceful that corporate allows this to go on! I applaud people for being honest, hardworking and dedicated to getting things done and done right, but for anyone who goes beyond 45, that is a failure on the part of corporate. Nobody should work for free.

Well said, @11kd55x2-6xvp.

Has anyone heard that managers are going to be required to work all holidays so they don't have to pay OT for hourly associates. My DL was very insistent that we worked Halloween night and another manager in another district near me said his DL said more info coming next week on holiday hours and managers.

I always looked at the bonus as my overtime pay

This isn’t an hourly job

Managers work to maximize sales and profits. Executives work to maximize shareholder value regardless of how it impacts the franchise long term

You try getting it all done, on 200 hours or less a week, without going over your 45 and without k–ling yourself or your staff.

When you become a retail store manager, you pretty much sign your life away to the company. Most retail corporates and cvs is one of them, do not care one bit about their employees, and only care that the store is open. And they don't care what you have to do in order to keep the store open, even if that means working multiple doubles...

Not really a management job. Just an overpaid cashier and stock boy that also writes a schedule and works for free when there are call outs. Being a store manager at cvs is not rocket science. Lots of "store managers" out there that were cashiers at one point at cvs and have no education. Any person with a 4th grade education can become a store manager at cvs as long as they like stocking shelves, playing their "cfr" replenishment system and ringing a register. 99.9% of the work done is the same exact thing a cashier is capable of doing. I was one of these fools for a few years. Took me a long time to get out due to having cvs on a resume is the equilivant of a McDonald's shift leader position. My college degree and brain got me out of this joke of a company and into a better paying job that has competent employees working there.

Have fun "managing your staff" and "leading your team" when it's just you and a cashier on your shift. Break time!! 30 minutes of ringing a cash register like the 15 year old high school kids on their first brainless job. Slaves for a company that will fire you in a split second. Just remember you can be easily replaced by that 15yr old kid due to the fact that they are just as qualified as you to be a "store manager" at cvs...

Just curious why do you think a salary manager working over 45 hours is working for free? They knew what they were signing up for and they get a bonus based on store performance.

Honestly you can do the job in 45 hours if you put the time in to train your people. But lots of people don’t want to do that because they are lazy or don’t understand how to run a business. Sounds like you are both.
