I’d be shocked if they were surprised at all the complaints and unhappiness that are getting posted here. I’d also be surprised if they knew about 1/4 of the issues being discussed- I think they are legitimately that out of touch. I am concerned that they are doing such damage to our workforce by the way they have handled this, it will take years to rebuild and regain trust.

The CFO must go... Your telling me he didn't know.. WTF
Ah, sorry ' 86 Bedford" but I watched the last All Hands Livestream and Mark Burns was asked specifically if there would be a RIF or VSP this year. His answer was an emphatic "No". I believe this RIF planning would have started right after Q2, so technically he would have been aware of any planned reductions by that All Hands Meeting. I'm afraid after 30+ years in aerospace at different companies, i have learned never to believe what Sr management tells you about the business. I attended an All Hands when I worked at McDonnell- Douglas where the president said business was booming and down the back of the plant they were secretly moving out tooling jigs to send work to Salt Lake. So don't ever trust what Sr.Leadership says....
No one was lied to at the all hands. Mark Burns said there would be layoffs at the all hands. People just read, 'not me though'. I agree that layoffs are a result of mismanagement. But I for one believe that with Colin and Angel at the helm engineering will be ok. Burns prefers service, because that's where he came from. But we know we all need to tech to compete.
Gulfstream has to fix it's management culture or die. I for one, wish that best for the company and have faith Colin will fix Engineering if I am part of Gulfstream or not.
I’m the wife of someone posting without my husbands knowledge. I’ve seen what that place has done to him. The stress and anguish. I’ve dealt with his anguish as HR has targeted him, We have children to feed, as do the rest of you. I know all about the Leadership team and HR, from what my husband shares. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.
Looks like the person responsible for PCMT and SPIDER gave a thumbs down. I give a thumbs down to him and his part in what has become of Engineering. Empire building is not cool man. We all know who you are and what you have done.
I think this is all silly. We have SPIDER and PCMT. Everything is great. Nothing to see here. Move on. HR is looking out for employees, Gulfstream and Leadership Team care about us, the people that make it happen. Sign up for Yoga and get weekly deliveries of organic groceries. Participate in employee talent shows. Run the 5k. Stop thinking about our core business. Put a note on the Diversity and inclusion board about sometime you were treated differently and how it made you feel.
Just for clarity, there are a lot of good leaders that happen to be male or female. MG, CJ, KE, JG, LDB, GC are all some of them. The issue here is nobody should be put in leadership positions because of what they are. It’s happened at GAC and unfortunately, because leadership has directed it, it hurts those people. Let’s stop it and get help from those leaders. Immutable qualities should not be considered when picking leaders. HR is the problem and has been the vehicle for takeover and destruction of US industry. If you are purple or a eunuch, or anything else, it doesn’t matter, you should not be immune from criticism if you are not a good leader
What does LT stand for?
Do you really think that they care? They have their silo of self-affirmation. This level of delusion doesn't happen by chance. Mr. Burns was conned by professional rats. He didn't see it coming because he is a product of the old Gulfstream culture. How would he be able to see their motives if he has never been exposed to the corporate culture that permeates in 99% of American companies. I think he hired the VP of HR in 2015 in good faith but didn't have the experience outside of Gulfstream to see or understand the con. HR in American has conducted a coup on the corporation to create a monstrosity that has power and influence when they should not. HR is support and every effort should be taken to minimize their influence outside of their core support functions. Instead, Gulfstream HR has taken over to build up their organization and the management machine for their benefit. As a result, you have an organization that looks like every other mediocre and disfunctional company in America. Gulfstream used to be better than the rest but those who want to exploit them for their own gain have conned their way to relevance at the detriment of a once great company.
We may not recognize the Gulfstream Leadership Team after corporate General Dynamics is finished with them.
Corrective actions:
- Apologize for lying to employees during all hands
- Communicate numbers and criteria for those that will be impacted
- Ensure this plan addresses the leadership failures that got us here
- Ensure that the plan corrects the top heavy organization we have evolved into
- Refocus on the Airplanes - that’s what we do. Design build, and service. All support functions and activities should be in direct support of Aircraft Design, Build and Service
