Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Off shoring positions OptumRx, clinical services, prior auth

Came across this job posting, nice disguise with the title but it looks like they’ve been ramping up hiring for prior authorization techs and pharmacists in the Philippines

Help me get this in the news! If more people write them about it, it is more likely to get in there and go public. I'm also considering the option of starting to send messages to providers through their contact us options on their websites letting them know what their pending future will be like. You can do all of this anonymously.

I’ve had to deal with member/provider services/help desk in my position quite a bit and half of the time they’re inexperience shows and they pass off calls or mess up authorizations that we have to research and fix, so I can’t possibly imagine what they’re thinking trying to replace hard working, trained, licensed, US employees with not only clinical knowledge and familiarity but also an understanding of company policy and guidelines, not just some script to read and a fake american name. I wish a lead or manager from our department or lob would say something but I have a feeling it will be radio silence until they let us go.

For the good part of this year the first several pages of the career hub job search has been positions for the Philippines. They have it good there.. If you look on indeed you can read their job reviews.
The past several times ive called helpdesk it has been Indians who basically read from a step by step manual. No personality.
I recently had to review a call from provider services and I was mortified. I could tell even the provider calling to go over member benefits was shocked. The rep barely spoke English.. Was unable to have any sort of conversation AND to top it off he ended up giving wrong information.

Seeing this makes me sick. We are professionals here in the US and go to school to dedicate our lives to our careers. I’ve interacted with OGS employees in other countries and they lack common sense. It shows in their work too. If they want to lay off hardworking US employees to hire lazy, uneducated workers from another country, they need to just take this entire company overseas. What a joke!

More offshore people are being hired and trained than ever before, and way more than Americans. Some are being sent there to train them. Facts! So of course they are trying to be slick about it but they are taking over all of our jobs to save money. “Move” initiative that they implemented is to move us Americans out.
